Obama Bans Signs and Posters at Berlin Rally
Monday, July 21, 2008

Posted on 07/21/2008 2:31:32 PM PDT by kristinn

The Real Barack Obama reports on the Obama campaign's plans to control the image of his Berlin rally:

“Looks like the Germans figured out why Obama won’t allow anyone to bring anything into his big show,” Beethovenqueen writes.

The Bild headline reads “Barack Obama bans protest signs in Berlin.”

The article then goes on to say:

Obamas Organisatoren wollen nichts dem Zufall überlassen. Auf Handzetteln, die seit Montag für die Rede im Berliner Bezirk Tiergarten ausgeteilt werden, heißt es: „Plakate oder Transparente sind nicht gestattet.“

Aus Sicherheitsgründen sollen die Besucher auch keine Taschen und Rucksäcke mitnehmen dürfen.

Translation:

Obama’s organization is leaving nothing to chance. As of Monday flyers are being passed out near Berlin’s Zoo that read “Posters & banners not allowed.” For security reasons visitors should not take purses or backpacks.

The latter will put off Germans. How are people supposed to stand out there for hours with no water and no worldly possessions? Or is someone making a killing on selling Kool Aid? Anyway, the headline is a hopeful sign that at least some of the German press see through Obama’s “security demands”.

Update #1: Sen. Obama’s website clearly states: “For security reasons, do not bring bags. Please limit personal belongings. No signs or banners permitted.”

Note that the location posted on Sen. Obama’s website is stated as the Berlin Tiergarten (the zoo), with the Siegessaulle (Victory Column) in finer print. One thing we can count on is the Obama campaign’s willingness to distract and distort reality.

Other German newspapers—Zeit Online, Berliner Zeitung—back up the Bild’s story. Word came from the Obama campaign.

Update #2: Both Wonkette and Ben Smith at The Politico got the memo.

Update #3: Aaron Klein at World Net Daily picked up Beethovenqueen’s post. You can read about it, with link back, here.

Oh, good catch! Not for the first time, this election scares me. It’s the only one that has given me nightmares, one lousy one during the 2000 re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-count, where Bill Clinton kept finding unlocked doors and windows to walk into or climb through while I frantically tried to slam them shut and lock them notwithstanding.

How do I do this? Make a sign and upload it to the site, somehow? There’s only two buttons, “change” and “believe it”.

I guess I was there too long ago to reflect current tastes. In the early seventies, Obama would only have been deemed good enough to be a “guest worker” doing hard labor in “WEST” Germany.

This current rock star scenario is horrible — a true Obamination :)

Someone else told me the same thing — Obama is a rock star in Germany. That would not have been the case in the seventies, when I was there a few times. No way. Horrifying now.

Rock star my a**!!

Simply type your words into the first box, then click on “believe it.”

I lived four years in West Berlin 1983-87. My wife is German and I have been visiting there on a regular basis since 1970. Germany is changing as the Cold War and WWII recedes in the collective memory of the country. Get ready to hurl when you see Obama in Berlin being cheered by throngs of Germans.

There are Germans who will of course regard this as a challenge, and sneak in all manner of signs.

Now Axelrot has ensured that only the most provocative of signs will make it through. Should be fun, at least for live tv.

"these stunts are aimed at the mushy middle in the US electorate that will place importance in “feeling good” about themselves if their president is adored overseas."

The "mushy middle" in the battleground states doesn't give a flying **** about what Der Durchschnitt Scheißkerl thinks (or doesn't).

While Barry is running for Herr Diktator of Deutschland, McCain is busy flipping flippable Michigan.

And now the FBI wants a word with Michigan's Democratic Governess Jenny Granholm. She of the out-of-circle and under-the-bus hard-core Hillary! supporters.

How deeply ironic that a no-good pimp-hustler like Kwame will be the one to deny Barry his coronation. The Michigan people are proud, and they won't stand for hard-core corruption that reaches all the way from Detroit to the Statehouse in Lansing.

Schadenfreude!

I was thinking the same thing. Telling young people they can’t do something usually causes them to do it in spite of.

“Obamaführer’s National Civilian Security Corps will be issuing only approved party-line signs to the Berliner masses.”

Cool, and with the umlaut on the U.

Heil Obama!

“anti-American, anti-semitic, Bush-hating signs that will embarrass Obama.” Such trash is only allowed on mybarackobama.com.

Hmmmm .... :”Anti-Americanism and Bush-Derangement has reached a peak in Germany.”

They hate America and its leaders ...

but they really like Obama.

Something here is fishy. Can they smell the hint of anti-Americanism from the Obama camp from that far away?!?

Is the international left that clued in. Maybe the New Yorker cover?

It’s a mystery.
