” Did you know that Harry S. Truman was the first U.S. President who did not attend college? “

Incorrect. Abe Lincoln attended no school after 3rd grade, and I’m sure there were others, too.

Still, this guy has a good point about intellectuals.

In short, Obama hasn’t a clue about ordinary Americans who go to church, may enjoy hunting or the concept of self-defense, and are angry with a government that has done nothing to stem the flow of illegal immigrants who will deny jobs to Americans and drive down their wages in the process. Americans are not anti-trade. They buy stuff from China and everywhere else in the world if the price is right.
:::::::
Like most radical liberal socialists, the Obamination does not give a flying &^%$ about this country, its people, its defense, its borders, its military, its economy, its radical taxation, and its radical spending. He really does not understand any of it, NOR DOES HE CARE TO. Job one is to GET INTO THE OVAL OFFICE to attain the top of the power pyramid for the other socialists that control the Congress.

Checkmate. God help us.

I also remember how we were continually told how smart Al Gore and John Kerry were and that their problem was that they had a hard time communicating their highly intellectual thoughts to us commoners. What a bunch of BS. These people are ignorant fools.

LOL. An appropriate website to go to for commentary on this election.

Without looking, I agree there probably were several.

A capacity, and taste, for reading, gives access to whatever has already been discovered by others. It is the key, or one of the keys, to the already solved problems. And not only so. It gives a relish, and facility, for successfully pursuing the unsolved ones.

This would be better if McCain wasn’t almost as clueless and doing everything he can to lose.

Good article, except for this: “Did you know that Harry S. Truman was the first U.S. President who did not attend college?” Please tell me which colleges Presidents George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Jackson and dozens of others attended?

Having rubbed shoulders with “intellectuals” all my life, I couldn’t agree more.

There are few things more dangerous than education without wisdom.

It was an intellectual, Karl Marx, who decided he could cure the ills of society by coming up with an economic system designed to redistribute a nation’s worth by destroying every pillar of human society and assigning all power to the “state” which is, of course, composed of very imperfect humans.

No, not the state. The State would wither away and the proletariat that would then behave as perfect idealists.

Where intellectuals fail is in realizing that man can only be trusted to be idealistic with checks and balances. The idea that those entrusted to have the temporary dictatorial powers backed up the the armed might of the State would voluntarily surrender that power was lunacy.

I agree with this guy’s general reasoning but the article is full or errors. Woodrow Wilson was opposed to the treaty of Versailles.

Well, Truman wasn’t afraid to do what needed to be done, in that he was ruthless in his actions to end the war. At the same time, wasn’t he the one who thought that Uncle Joe was a “decent sort”, and didn’t he also turn a blind eye to Communist infiltration of our government.

Obambi an intellectual? Who knew? Maybe what passes for an intellectual in certain circles, but he ain’t nuttin’ but a shyster. Yes, he is probably surrounded by semi-intellectuals, academics and such, and maybe he values intellectuals, unlike, presumably, the present POTUS, but he ain’t one. any more than, again, the present POTUS. Wrong premise.

Oh, and communist rulers themselves were no intellectuals, in fact in today’s post-communist Europe they are referred to with contempt as peasants from the dark ages, which is what most of them they were. Lumpenproletariat.
