Gray wolves in the greater Yellowstone area of the northern Rocky Mountains, which would have been fair game for hunters in three states as a result of a federal government decision in March, were again put under the protections of the Endangered Species Act by a judge in Montana on Friday.
The action by the judge, Donald W. Molloy of Federal District Court, took the form of a preliminary injunction and could be reversed. But Judge Molloy’s language showed serious reservations about the Fish and Wildlife Service’s decision to remove endangered species protections for the wolves.
Environmental groups, including Defenders of Wildlife and the Sierra Club, which sued the Interior Department and the Fish and Wildlife Service on behalf of the wolves, persuaded Judge Molloy that there was a possibility of irreparable harm to the species if hunts had been allowed.
The states of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming; the National Rifle Association; and a variety of hunting and cattlemen’s associations intervened on the federal government’s behalf.

Judges just keep pushing the boundary of their power further and further. If they want a law they just issues a decision. Disagree with them? Then you are in contempt and must go to jail.
Sooner or later we will need some ropes.

Lets see, you are 20 miles from town and the nearest cop. I’d say thats a solid plan.
There wasn’t any re-introducing about it. The breed of wolf they put here in Idaho has never been native.
They are artificial transplants. So if I introduce an alligator into the streams does it become protected?
Do like we do in CA in regards to Mountain Lions, shoot, shovel and shut up.
Country is overrun with dogs and their poop. Nothing special about wolves no matter what you call them, although the wild kind are apparantly better mannered than the little beasties people give names to.
That’s what we do to cougars in western WA state - they’ll come up to the back porch.

The big cats in California do get a chance to get even from time to time. I heard they prowl all the bicycle paths!
In TX, there is no bag limit on cougars, so we can have as many fireplace rugs as we wish.
Can you legally possess mountain lion or wolf hides there?
Gee, I think we should release about 30 pair in Central Park! I mean if the NYT is that concerned, they should help get it done!!
Someone should find where the judge lives...and let a wolf loose in his yard....

Article III Section 2 Gives the courts jurisdiction over "Controversies to which the United States shall be a Party," but Congress can limit the courts "with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as Congress shall make." The question for the moment should be whether the new rules on Grey Wolves fit the regulations Congress made. Congress can still forbid the courts to interfere if they want to assert their authority.
