WASHINGTON -- A 13-year-old boy was killed, seven people shot and a person stabbed within minutes of each other in a spate of violence in the Trinidad section of NE shortly after midnight Saturday.
Police said between midnight and four in the morning a person was also stabbed and another shot citywide.
DC Police Inspector Rodney Parks says the shootings appear to have taken place in connection with three attempted robberies.
Police are looking for a gold or metallic colored car, possibly a Dodge Intrepid, spotted at each crime scene. The police have no suspects in custody at this time.
Police set up checkpoints in the Trinidad neighborhood last month to prevent crime in the wake of a similar string of shootings. The checkpoints are now the subject of a class action lawsuit.
Jewel Hall, a resident of the Trinidad area, says crime is a real problem in the area.
"I really can't distinguish 'em from fireworks or whatever," Hall said. "But we do hear, you know like, it could be shots all the time. And it's like, little kids, they don't even get scared. They're used to it."
Police request that anyone with information on any of these incidents call the Metropolitan Police Department at 202-727-9099.

It’s all Heller’s fault (sarcasm folks, sarcasm)...
When are we going to withdraw from this quagmire?
BTTT
remember,
guns are illegal in mexico!
/j
We need to withdraw....NOW!
You know, it's been a while since Baghdad posted up murder numbers like DC's. ;-)
Didn’t you hear? DC still won’t let you have guns, but you can keep enough iron ore so you can smelt out the steel and make a gun.
As I recall, this isn’t the first time our minds have run close.

See there! All the evil Supreme Court had to do was issue the evil Heller decision and evil people are already doing evil things. There was probably no crime at all in the “Trinidad” section prior to Heller!
Looks like they’ll just have to outlaw crime for a change.
An obvious lie. No one may own a gun in DC.
It's a good thing that DC put new draconian gun restrictions in place immediately after Heller was decided. The new restrictions are working to keep guns out of the hands of criminals just as well as the old ones did.

Is it just me or do I see a *trend* here. It’s quite possible that D.C. is just an outpost of...pick your 3rd world location. Seems like the local Government follows their guidelines too! I grew up here (Arlington) and when I was a *yooth* (cousin Vinnie reference) I didn’t fear going into D.C. on the bus to meet my mother for a day at the Museum. Now I wouldn’t go downtown for anything.
Violence in DC?
Next you’ll tell me that their public schools are sub-standard and over funded.
Seven people shot? Don’t these people know they’re supposed to have gun locks?
I put the blame for this violence where it belongs. On the people who are running the government there. They can’t or won’t stop this rampant violent, so they promote “gun control laws”.
Try it with any city that posts their most wanted on the net. Just type in.....most wanted Los Angeles.
