True, but Pat has a fork stuck in him. He's done.
Several posters clearly stated this fact earlier this week:
“Why did progressives recoil? Because the more savvy among them sense that, like much humor, this cartoon was an exaggeration that contained no small kernel of recognizable truth.”
The sniveling liberals, the muslims, and their allies fear the ugly head of truth.
Pat Buchanan was a lousy candidate and pretty much a jackass but he hits the nail on the head here.
...and that is how Barack Obama has skated by from the time he was a sophomore in high school...
Americans should stand up and say that if we really are a post racial nation, it is our post racial responsibility to take the gloves off and treat Mr. Obama with the same rough and tumble that Bush, Kerry, Gore, Clinton, Dole, Bush, Reagan, Mondale, Carter, Ford, Nixon, and McGovern got.
I can’t believe Pat Buchanan didn’t write a ridiculously stupid article!
First column I’ve read in a while where he isn’t raving about Jews and Israel and defending Hitler’s military strategies.
Good for Pat.
“Why did progressives recoil? Because the more savvy among them sense that, like much humor, this cartoon was an exaggeration that contained no small kernel of recognizable truth.”
I think it’s the exact opposite. They recoiled, because it contained TOO MUCH truth.
The fact is — satire works when you exagerate to outrageous proportions a small truth.
For example the new jib jab video works and is funny because it takes a truth - Obama’s flowery language and exagerates it with unicorns, pink bunnies and a cast of xanadu.
The NewYorker cover to the contrary is straight truth
"Barack gets the special-ed treatment. Our first affirmative action candidate."
Really, you should check out the NYTimes,LAtimes, and SFranChron for a whole list of far stupider articles. Pat looks like a genius next to most of the old media monopolists.
I’ve got to get to the bookstore to see if any New Yorkers are left. Definitely a collector’s item wheather he wins or not.
Come to think of it - where CAN I get a blow up of that cover?
If only I was alive July,1914-Pat B.
Not to argue, but the quote says “no small kernel of truth” ; in other words, a very substantial truth.
Pat nails it here.
The editors of the New Yorker practically groveled for understanding and forgiveness for their unintentional faux pas.
An absolutely pathetic performance that not even the "satirical geniuses" at their own magazine could parody.
Full Metal McCain-Haunted by the ghosts of Vietnam, the one-time maverick has transformed himself into just another liberal-bashing fearmonger, Rolling Stone, Jun, 2008
Hillary and Barry as North Vietnamese, not a peep.
Wow! Can’t “diss” Barack and Michelle Obama? That’s not how politics works, whether you like it or not!”
CAN’T??????
Watch me-——
Michelle Obama said that the $600 stimulus check “wouldn’t even buy a pair of earrings”.
She is so totally out of touch with Americans, she is a complete joke.
She is anti-white, and every chance she gets, she displays that attitude, IMO.
I wouldn’t vote for either of them if they were the ONLY candidates running for any office, anywhere.
I challenge every woman who has never spent $600 on a pair of earrings to vote for McCain.
Of course.
Props to the New Yorker Magazine. Anyone who thinks they didn’t know what they were doing is plain old silly.
no small kernel of truth ; in other words, a very substantial truth.
point taken. guess he writes above my comprehension level
