SUSAN Atkins, who admitted slitting actress Sharon Tate's throat during the Manson Family murders, was refused "compassionate release" from jail.

The 12-member parole board listened to arguments on releasing Atkins, who is thought to be suffering brain cancer, before issuing its decision in court documents without further explanation.

Will they be reviewing the release case every day?

They claim she needs “compassionate release” because she is reportedly suffering from a terminal disease.

This is the same excuse cited by those who support euthenasia. It is all about “quality of life” and “dying with dignity”.

So a convicted capital murderer cannot be sentenced to death, even voluntary euthenasia, while in prison but should be released from life imprisonment (without parole?) so that she can live a “quality” terminal life at home?

Socialists lie. Always. They need to find some argument and hold to it.

Abortion is not murder. The death penalty is murder. Life in prison is humane. A terminal person serving life in prison is inhumane. Euthenasia at home is compasionate. Euthenasia in prison is inhumane.

Been posted previously, but that's OK. I hate these people.

Back in the early '70s when I was barely in kindergarten, the TV was full of Manson Family atrocities and the Symbionese Liberation Army. I watched the SLA shootout live on TV while sitting on the living room floor playing with my Tinkertoys.

As a result, I learned to hate hippies at a very early age. I thought that the whole world was nothing but evil bomb-throwing hippies with swastikas cut into their foreheads. Now that I'm a grown man, I know it to be true.

These people terrorized me as a kid. They can die in their jail cell with their brain tumors making them flip around like a landed fish on their prison cot for all I care.

I understand that she has taken full advantage of conjugal visit priviliges over the years.

The search doesn’t work or I’m doing it wrong. I get nothing back.

They need to execute people like this. What a waste to keep them around and an insult to their victims.

‘compassionate release’ in her case would be a left to right movement just above her shoulder level with a running chainsaw.

They had originally been sentenced to death, but the Calif. supreme court at one time had declared the death penalty unconstitutional. I think they said the way it was administered was discriminatory.

Anyway, the death penalty is again allowed, however, anyone on death row at the time of that original court order got their sentences reduced to life. They wouldn’t or couldn’t go back and reinstate the death sentences due to that court case.

“I understand that she has taken full advantage of conjugal visit priviliges over the years.”

Well, she was Manson’s “Sexy Sadie”, after all (from the Beatles’ White Album that inspired Chuck’s Helter Skelter).

Seems like fate has a sense of irony here.

Ms. Atkins wants a compassionate release, yet when presented with the opportunity to show compassion herself, she instead slit Ms. Tate’s throat and proceeded to murder her unborn baby.

Frankly, I’d prefer that she be denied medical care, and or any pain killers until her death, since she again showed no compassion toward her victim. Death by a cut throat/drowning in your own blood has got to be an excruciating agony until death some 5-6 minutes later.

Great/sarc. Now every time I catch a fish I’m going to think about hippies flopping around on a cot.

Too bad its brain cancer. Relatively painless if compared to bone cancer which is what she deserves.

Socialists lie. Always.

Bump.

Guess the title of Charles Manson's "album." He and his followers should have been dead well over three decades ago.

They can die in their jail cell with their brain tumors making them flip around like a landed fish on their prison cot for all I care.

Even a poll at DU has them answering “no thanks” to Susan’s release. Hope I do not infect FR as a result of this news.

This might be a stupid question, but what the heck is ‘DU’?!? I’ve been trying to think what anacronym that could stand for, but I’m drawing blanks.

DU is a website representing views contrary to FR. It consists largely of verbal disease and should not be visited unless you are able to cleanse your mind and keyboard thoroughly. For some reason I cannot bring myself to spell it out, but will leave that to FReepers of greater fortitude if they should care to so so.
