"I'm honored to be with you in a week that reminds us just how far we've come as a country," she said. "Five years ago today, the Supreme Court delivered justice with the decision in Lawrence v. Texas that stated that same-sex couples would never again be persecuted through the use of federal alarm."
While Obama, 44, spoke about gay rights, she also praised her husband and explained why she stands firmly behind him. She described the presidential hopeful's idea of the gap between "the world as it is and the world as it should be." These two worlds, she said, should be "one and the same."
"Barack has made crystal clear his commitment to ensuring full equality for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) couples," she said. "The world as it is should be one that rejects discrimination of all kinds."

Stop and think for a moment what kind of world Obama wants.
Translation: "So when my hubbie says he isn't in favor of gay marriage, he really doesn't mean it."
Is she saying "same sex couples" wouldn't be federally prosecuted?!? Seems to me the case was precisely about a STATE law.
Uh, Michelle, here's on little blot on that kind of thinking: "Lev 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination". Or didn't the Rev. Wright venture into the Bible all that much?
Rev Wright was too busy teaching that Jesus was a black Jew oppressed by the evil white Romans.
Lawrence v. Texas, a United States Supreme Court case, in the 6-3 ruling, struck down the sodomy law that had criminalized homosexual sex in Texas.
And that God damns America...
“The world as it is should be one that rejects discrimination of all kinds.”
These types of open ended statements are dangerous in my opinion. As it applies to marriage, for example, limiting marriage to two people is discriminatory. The eventual goal of the gay activists is to have legalized group marriage or polygamy. And there are underground polygamists who will eventually sue for their marriage rights.
As far as “discrimination” is concerned, ALL laws and gov’t policies either prohibit or sanction certain activities and behaviors. ALL laws and policies discriminate against those who want to live their life in a different way. So when she says she wants to ban all forms of discrimination she doesn’t really mean that. She wants to discriminate against nudists walking down the street. She wants to discriminate against polygamy, probably. She wants to have separate but equal public restrooms. When we say we must ban all discrimination, where does it end?
This will be helpful! :-)
Hogwash!
Discrimination, in all it's facets, is a system of self preservation for any living thing with intellect ... but then it was spoken by Mrs. Obama-Lama-Ding-Dong.
Freeper Hugin started a list here, and some participants on my blog and I are adding to a list of why conservatives should vote for John McCain over Obama. I hope you don't mind that I included part of your comment to that list?
8. Special Rights and Hate Crimes- John McCain has consistently opposed hate crimes legislation adding sexual orientation to protections. He has consistently opposed special rights and protections for homosexuals. This is not something conservatives should be fighting with him about.

Of course, I gave you credit for this!
Sodomy is not a civil right.
God grants the rights -- not people.

It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved
They have the same rights as normal people. There are no laws denying them access to buildings, water fountains, restaurants, jobs or marriage.
Marriage is a contract between one man and one woman. They have the same right as anyone else in this matter. Problem is, they don’t want marriage. They want something else.
If obamawama is elected POTUS it’s a train wreck waiting to happen.
9. Presidential Cabinet Appointments- If McCain is elected President, he will be selecting his Cabinet from the Republican pool, mostly people who have served in the Bush43 and Bush41 administrations. If Obama is elected, he will choose from the pool of Clinton retreads, plus whatever radical supporters he gives jobs to as payback for supporting him.
This is great, we have 9 reasons now! Check out the full list at the link below:
