Biden Warns Pakistan on Elections (remember when?)

Posted on 07/16/2008 8:50:52 AM PDT by HD1200

Still waiting for the media to challenge Senator Biden on the mess we have now in Pakistan as a result of his, Kerry's, & Hagel's travelling to Pakistan and actively working against our ally, Musharraf, in the election. As we know, the Musharraf Government lost in the elections and the new government promptly started releasing Taliban from prisons, who are now actively engaged in killing American soldiers in Afganistan. Today Biden was on CNN and not a peep from John Roberts as to whether Biden's trip was ill-advised.

Pakistan — Sen. Joseph Biden urged Pakistani authorities to ensure that Monday's parliamentary elections are free and fair, warning that the country could face greater instability if the vote is rigged.

Biden, along with Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., will observe the polling Monday and meet political leaders in Lahore, the hub of Pakistani politics. (snip) Biden, D-Del., said a more democratic government would help Pakistan combat spreading Islamic extremism and suggested Washington should reduce its reliance on Musharraf. The Bush administration has promoted Musharraf as a moderate leader capable of holding together the nuclear-armed country.

"I do not buy into the argument that the only person who has the capacity to help in dealing with terrorism is Musharraf," Biden said. (snip) The U.S. delegation is scheduled to travel to Afghanistan and India after Pakistan.

We are better off when Schumer is spending his time destroying our banks.

Why in the world would the State Dept sanction sending 2 of the US Senate’s dumbest Senators (Plugs and Lurch) over to “monitor” Pakistani elections? And they’re adding RINO Hagel to make it look bipartisan?

Doesn’t this boondoggle invest the US Govt with some kind of unneeded and unwarranted responsibility for the outcome, good or bad?

How does one monitor an election in a foreign country.. they cannot understand the language..cannot read the ballots, if they use one...it seems to me they would not even understand the procedure.. so I bet they stay in the tax payer hotel, enjoy their gas saving trips, and drink high priced liquor...and call girls..
