Many people who knew Obama then remember him for his cockiness. He had good reason to be self-assured. A number of his accomplishments had been accompanied by adoring press coverage. When he was named president of the Harvard Law Review, in 1990, he was profiled by, among others, the Times, the Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, Vanity Fair, and the Associated Press. Even then, the essential elements of Obama-mania were present: the fascination with his early life, the adulatory quotes from friends who thought that he would be President one day, and Obamas frank, though sometimes ostentatious, capacity for self-reflection. (To some extent, Im a symbolic stand-in for a lot of the changes that have been made, he told the Boston Globe in 1990.)

On issue after issue, Preckwinkle presented Obama as someone who thrived in the world of Chicago politics. She suggested that Obama joined Jeremiah Wrights Trinity United Church of Christ for political reasons. Its a church that would provide you with lots of social connections and prominent parishioners, she said. Its a good place for a politician to be a member. Preckwinkle was unsparing on the subject of the Chicago real-estate developer Antoin (Tony) Rezko, a friend of Obamas and one of his top fund-raisers, who was recently convicted of fraud, bribery, and money laundering: Who you take money from is a reflection of your knowledge at the time and your principles."

sorry for the caps lock.. oops, lol.
ACORN is the most corrupt organization in the vote fraud business in American history. Try Googling ACORN and "vote fraud" together for a report of the arrests, trials and convictions. If the New Yorker connected Obama to ACORN, they did their job. If not, they're still covering for him.

wow the cover is dead on.
Don’t know about the article, but the “cartoon” on the cover of the magazine is devastating - and from Obama’s “friends” supposedly satirizing what his “enemies” say about him, no less - just gets better and better.....
Is The New Yorker, perhaps launching a stealth attack on behalf of New York's junior senator?
'Oh, we're satirizing the right,' is a fairly thin and unconvincing excuse for rendering in line and color all the perceived problems with Obama both real (he is an anti-American Communist) and specious (he's not a Muslim, indeed, the feverswamps of Islam will boil over if we elect the murtad fitri who abandoned Islam for the Marxist-tinged semi-Christianity of Trinity UCC). Especially when coupled with publishing an unflattering piece about his time as a Chicago pol.
Nope, ACORN is not mentioned.
bump for later
If Obama were a fish, someone who caught him would need to throw him back in the river
Clean water is guaranteed by the Clean Water Act and the Constitution of Illinois, yet every day all kinds of pollution is dumped into the Chicago River, the Cal-Sag and Calumet River.
