What’s The Worst That Could Happen?
American Spectator ^ | July.11, 2008 | Philip Klein

Growing up with a father who is an irritable traveler notoriously obsessed with avoiding traffic, I developed a habit of always preparing myself for the worst whenever embarking on a journey.

~snip~

Despite all of the problems faced by the current incarnation of the Republican Party, America is still a right of center nation, which explains Obama's need to abandon many of his liberal positions. Although it's something I would rather not find out, what this means is that Obama's ability to govern as a liberal if elected president would largely be a function of how well conservatives can mobilize opposition to him, thus exploiting his inexperience and inclination to do the politically expedient thing. This won't prevent all bad things from happening under an Obama presidency, but it may spare the nation from the worst-case scenario.

The worst? This scum rules in euro-socialist fashion for eight long years, permanently lurching the nation leftward and stacking the courts and all those Federal panels with his fellow commie swine. With a leftist congress the only we could do is whine. The time to “mobilize” is NOW to DEFEAT him.

This brings up a great "poll" question.

Which B. Hussein Obama do you like best?

1. The Primary Obama.

2. The General Election Obama.

Well lets see:

1. A nuclear attack on a US city.

2. A socialization of US health care that would make it tougher and tougher to fund the defense of the country and would be as irreversable as Social Security.

3. A dirty bomd or chemical or gas attack in a US city.

4. Another generation of the public will on Roe v. Wade being ignored. The degree to which the public electing GOP presidents who appoint claimed conservative judges like Souter, O’Connor etc yet Roe v. Wade stands undermines confidence in representative government can not be over estimated nor can the corrosiveness of that one decision politicizing judgical appointments can not be over estimated either.

So yes Obama can and likely would be a huge disaster.

But you sort of have to ask “Of all the bad things Obama might do how many would McCain also likely do?” and “How hard would the remaining Conservatives in Congress work to stop Obama?” which they wouldn’t do to stop McCain. In that light we may actually be BETTER OFF with Obama.

You have lost your mind if you think “we” (conservatives?), or the nation, would be better off with Obama as President than we would be with McCain.

Really. Get a grip.

Please don’t take this as a personal attack, but just an attack on the notion you expressed.

“Let's cause our side to get massacred so the remaining troops can be rallied to fight.

Please, enough of that insane dribble!

We would then be best off if we could get Hugo Chavez to take over.  ;-)

Well, when McCain “crosses the aisle” and leans on the remaining Rep.s to at least not fight him you will understand what I am saying. At least the remaining Rep.s would flock to the micropones when Obama tries to (fill in the blank here).

Microphones? What microphones?

Repubs don't get a chance at microphones. They are lucky to get a 2 second, "Republicans, as usual, have differences." from the newsreaders.

The biggest complaints from conservatives about Bush are

1. Spending: McCain would probably not spend as much nor face a GOP Congress and thus hessitate to veto as much as Bush.

2. Immigration: McCain would be as bad or worse from the point of view of the no reform crowd, but Congress would just as surely react to public pressure under McCain as they did under Bush.

As far as bad policies go, McCain has shown a far better “ability” to believably learn in a conservative direction, ie drilling off shore etc than Obama. Presidential election are not all about past positions. They certainly are not all about past legislative positions They ARE all about who is the better more trustworthy candidate to make the unknown key future decisions.

So sorry, I don’t see you point at all.
