The story triggered months of feverish worldwide media attention in 2001, before the Sept. 11 attacks shoved it aside and the investigation stalled.

So Condit set up the plane hijackers to disrupt the investigation and all this time I thought it was Bush and Cheney's fault... S/

Ah, the old Chandra Levy case. I remember that was the hottest topic in the news, followed by overaged little leaguers and shark bite until we got hit on 9-11. Don’t know how munch involved Gary Condit is (or not) but I’ve always said that when 9-11 happened, he’d probably let out a huge sigh of relief by being bumped as the main story.

I don’t think Condit did it but I think he knows something. Oh, and the rumors about his personal sexual deviancies never did come out in the press. Why?

We, you know, demonstrated in Modesto every Saturday for over a year at Condit’s district office.

No, we have not forgotten Chandra Levy.

... a misdirected focus and missed opportunities that allowed a killer to escape justice.

What? The idea that a US congressman could be so sick and evil as to kill or have killed a young woman to save his personal gravy train? Or, the ignorance and apathy about focusing on this heathen to hold him accountable for the twisted nature of the crime?

How about the fact nobody wanted or wants to know about how Condit (now ex-US congressman) or John Kasich (now ex-US congressman) and Joey Scarborough (now ex-US congressman) all exited at about the same time of the investigation, upon word that they partied together and participated in wild sex parties replete with rubber body suits and hookers and young women?

No. All that happened because of her death was an incomplete investigation and the resignation of a lying scumbag.

Gary Condit did it but the incompetent D.C. police bungled it so badly they'll probably never prove it.

He's NO “handsome” guy. He is a creep.

The Chandra Levy case is the most famous unsolved murder in modern Washington...

No. That would be the Vince Foster murder. But I imagine the Washington Posthole won't be doing any 12-chapter serial and epilogue on that bungled investigation.

Seeing this is the Washington Post - any mention of Tony Snow, a conservative died? is this their form of a distraction from a wonderful man passing on?

While you’re at it, find out who killed Nicole Brown Simpson since in the criminal murder trial, O.J. was found ‘not guilty’ and O.J. said he would not rest until the killer of his wife was found.

Wasn’t that slime Scarborough rumored to be involved in Condit’s little sex ring?

"the serial will reveal how an enormous effort by the D.C. police,"

Was Chief Mouse involved in this one too?

Condit certainly went to a lot of trouble to obstruct the case. And every move he made to keep it on the down low only served to make him look guiltier than sin.

Driving miles away to throw away another mistress’s gift watch in a McDonald’s bag? Missing his first day of votes ever while driving deep into the VA hills to call still another mistress from another McDonald’s? Hmm, maybe Ronald McDonald was somehow involved.

"an enormous effort by the D.C. police"

HORSECRAP!!

The D.C. Police couldn't even find her body, although they searched right past it in Rock Creek Park. Some guy walking his dog found her when the mutt came back with a tibia bone.

They still can't tell you how she died; if you said mice, your guess is as good as any.

The "solve" rate, that is knowing who the perp is for D.C. is less than 12%, never mind actually catching the guy.

It is common knowledge among the bad guys that if you want to do a clean hit, light up the guy any where and dump the body in D.C.

By the way, you can thank Marion Barry for this; when he was "Mayor for Life" he removed any and all standards from the D.C. Police.

Condidit was the happiest man alive on 9/11. Where are his brothers now? He had on that was a sheriff, i think, and one that was a FELON....so in one family you had, Law MAKER, Law BREAKER and Law ENFORCER! They were probably ALL Law BREAKERS!!

I find it odd that the mainstream media didn’t find it worth reporting that Condit had plans in place with a trusted staffer for the movement of a dead body (presumably his) from one location to another for the purpose of hiding the circumstances involving the death.

I have to say that, even without an actual death of a person close to Condit, that information should make for pretty interesting copy.
