Three years ago I was invited to attend the annual Television and Radio Correspondents Dinner in Washington, DC. Before and after the big shindig, all the major news organizations throw parties in the same hotel. I attended the Fox News event, and Tony Snow was there.
I had never met Tony and he didn't know me from Adam. I was just a neophyte blogger from this new site, NewsBusters. Nevertheless, Tony greeted and spoke with me warmly, and I had a very powerful sense of someone who, in a manner rooted in his religious faith, truly cared about others. As I stood on the fringe of the crowd as many others spoke with him, I witnessed the same outpouring of caring and concern coming from Tony toward all that he met. There was an palpalble aura of loving-kindness that emanated from him.

Tony Snow RIP ping to Today show list.
RIP Tony Snow.
Rush just spoke about Tony on Fox News.
A classy guy that went far too young. The world is a lesser place today.
Tony Snow is departing to a better place. WE were blessed by his presence and thoughts here. My prayers for his family
As an aside, compare and contrast the subdued mentioning of Tony Snow’s passing amongst his MSM contemporaries with the wailing and keening over the departure of Tim Russert.
Thanks for sharing your encounter with Tony. Prayers for his loved ones in this time of grief.
Thank you Mark. So many of us are caught between grief and sorrow...but smiles, always the smiles, because Tony was ..Tony.
Indeed Mark, we all mourn the passing of Tony. But we do have reason to be thankful. Just look at all the good he did in his short 53 years for the Cause. There’s no telling how many people he influenced or just how much he changed the course of history.
For what we believe in, he did his share and much, much more.
And for that, I do thank God.
God Bless you Tony, thanks for the memories. I remember getting a chance to call a show he was a guest on when he was spokesman for White House, nice guy.
Wish he could have guest hosted for Rush when he was on vacation last week. I loved Fox News Sunday when he was the host.
God Bless his wife and the 3 kids.
I know that his memory will be a lifelong inspiration to you - you are already providing your fellow FReepers with such valuable insight and service, and I firmly believe that great things are in store for you in your career.
Condolences to Tony Snow’s family and friends. One of the best media personalities I have seen in my lifetime.
You are very kind to compare me to Tony Snow in any way. He certainly will serve as an example and inspiration for me.
May God bring Tony home and send comfort to his family and friends.
Prayers and a few tears for a fine man who demonstrated his humanity and high ethics in all things.
Tony was a good man and he will be missed.
When I heard the news I felt like I had lost a relative of the family.
The thing I will always remember about Tony is how upbeat he always seemed to be. He always seemed to be smiling. I just sad hearing this news today.
Prayers to Tony’s family and loved ones in this time of mourning.
No words....just a big lump in my throat. You’ll be missed, Tony. Prayers for your friends and family.
Tony had the ability to speak to huge crowd of people and yet you felt like he was talking directly to you.
He will be missed. :(
