This story in the Washington Post a couple of days ago about this was a disgrace. I cannot believe they are providing these people with positive coverage. Just what I wanted to read about while eating breakfast.

So let me get this straight:
Joseph Burkett (federal contractor)
Kimberly Burkett (wife, an aspiring model who lives in Fredericksburg) “separated since July 2008” (that is this month). “filed a petition for divorce in January.” That would be 6 months ago. So they petitioned for divorce and only just now separated. “The relationship reportedly began shortly after Logan broke off another relationship with a fellow journalist last November.’
“everything was going well until Joseph went to Iraq, saying he came home in January and ‘everything was OK.’” ...Except Lara had already met her husband years before in Afghanistan.
Lara Logan (pregnant reporter) “The father, she claims, is Joseph Burkett of Kerrville.” “She told the Washington Post that she became pregnant in April, shortly before leaving Baghdad and that the pregnancy was unplanned.”
Jason Siemon (Lara Logan’s husban) “The divorce is expected to be final in about two weeks.” “The relationship reportedly began shortly after Logan broke off another relationship with a fellow journalist last November.”
At stake in the Burkett divorce is the couple’s 3-year-old daughter. Joseph Burkett is seeking to be appointed managing conservator of the child. Kimberly Burkett’s attorney Susie Chmielowiec was quoted in The National Enquirer saying, “Kimberly believes Lara stole her husband — and now they’re trying to steal her little girl.”
“Logan is considered a rising star in television news and was promoted last week within the CBS organization.”
The chronology of this this way all out of whack and I had a hard time discerning who/what/when/where... and just who was trying to get custody of the kid and who’d been wronged in that situation. NOW I can see. But that article needed an editor. It gave me a headache to think about it.
Any relation to the infamous Burkett (forgot 1st name) who faked the Bush Air National Guard letters?
