Only "several billion"? How do they propose to eliminate the rest of the deficit?
Surely they aren't considering cutting spending!

Just tax every one more. And I guess borrow the rest. This is "serious budgeting?" These people are living in a fantasy world. In good times, they could bribe a few Republicans with handouts for their district. The money to do that isn't on hand this year and all Republicans are philosophically united on the question of higher taxes and spending. Government in California has grown 76% between 1991 and 2008. The state's population grew only 14% in that time and that's population growth plus inflation combined. California's government is far bigger than it needs to be and is living well beyond its means. And higher taxes will only postpone the inevitable. The CAGOP has proposed sensible budget reforms that have been rejected by the Democrats and even
Los Angeles Times Sacramento Bureau Chief George Skelton, a hardcore Lefty, admits they're necessary. To bring the Democrats back to reality, its necessary to kill this budget first.

The democrats in the state of California despise it’s people. They rob them of their bill of rights, tax them into depression. The only people the state legislature democrtats like are those dependant on the state government for their survial or their paycheck. They have bought these slaves and are now afraid of them.

I read halfway down and this year's proposed budget is $105 billion. The Democrats have added $2 billion in new spending to Red Arnold's own budget and they have the
chutzpah to say it cuts spending? Yeah and that is over last year's budget. I'm not holding my breath waiting for them to make real spending cuts. As long as I've been alive, state government has always grown. Pete Wilson's last budget was $53 billion and here a decade later, its double that amount!

I am disgusted with California. High taxes, crowded freeways, and the politicians are deranged. Eventually, the only business remaining will be farming, since they have the ability to sell outside the state and they receive some sweet tax breaks.
We are planning to move to Western Kentucky by the end of the year. At one time, I really loved California.

I've already moved out of California. And these higher taxes and fees will encourage even more people to leave the state so California's government will get even less in revenue simply because there'll be fewer people to pay the added taxes. Its just human nature. California should be doing its utmost to make the state an attractive place for businesses to invest, to create new jobs and to reduce the high cost of living that burdens California families. Instead, its Sacramento liberal misleadership wants to do the opposite.

Arnold promised to create a business friendly environment when we had the initial recall election. Oh, do I wish for the good old days when Reagan was governor.

Red Arnold has saddled the state with a fictitious global warming mandate, has borrowed billions from Wall Street and is proposing to raid the state's gambling fund for still more money. The one thing he hasn't done is to actually cut spending and change the way Sacramento does business.

You forgot to mention the multi-billion dollar stem cell initiative that he endorsed. I wonder what happened to him. I know he was capable of running a sizeable business successfully.

A little revolution is good now and then. The trigger is when the quality of life sinks so low as to become “unrecoverable”. I wonder just how far away that point is for some people in CA?

The Dimoqueers in California are sure bound and determined to turn the state into a third world mudsty aren’t they? Watch them, as they shrink their tax base, while trebling their dole rolls, in double time.
