The news that the Rev. Jesse Jackson took a crude swipe at Sen. Barack Obama this week put renewed scrutiny on the relationship between the veteran civil rights activist and Democratic presidential contender.
But Jackson's vulgar criticism of Obama came close to going unreported.
Jackson made the comments to a guest before an interview on Sunday's "Fox & Friends," whispering that Obama was "talking down to black people" and that Jackson wanted to "cut his nuts off."
The comments went unnoticed in the control room, Bill Shine, Fox News' senior vice president for programming, said Thursday.

O'Reilly told viewers that the network had decided to air only portions of what Jackson had said, saying there was "more damaging" material.
Shine declined to comment on what else Jackson said, adding that news executives were in discussions about whether to air more of the tape.

Oh, just release the whole damned tape, OK?
If it had been a conservative, that tape would have been out pronto. So what’s their problem? Ethics?
“So whats their problem? Ethics?”
More likely - a lack of ethics. Release the entire tape, FNC. Such censorship is shameful.
Probably so. CNN has no ethics. Nice to know Fox might.
That said: Release the whole tape Fox!
OREILLY: We held back some of this conversation... we didnt feel it had any relevance to the conversation this evening. We are not out to get Jesse Jackson. We are not out to embarrass him and we are not out to make him look bad. If we were, we would have used what we had, which is more damaging than what you have heard...
“CNN has no ethics.”
Listening to Bill Bennett’s Morning in America, he said CNN was working on being more fair...they’d hired Tony Snow and somebody else whose name I can’t remember.
Anyway, I agree. Just release the tape, Fox.
Either they are milking this to get more interest. Or they want some leverage against the shake-down artist if he ever targets Fox.
What ever happend to the FOX NEWS Slogan -
We report You decide?
I guess those were just marketing words.
BOR’s not protecting Jackson, he’s letting him know he’s got some blackmail material. If he wanted to protect him, he wouldn’t say on international TV that he’s sitting on “more damaging” video.
BOR would burn that tape in a second if Jackson agreed in return to do six Factor shows a year for the next three years.
The cat is out of the bag. If they released any part of the tape, they need to release it all. Especially after saying it’s worse than what we’ve heard so far! Maybe it’s about time people learned what “Reverend” Jackson is all about!
“Either they are milking this to get more interest. Or they want some leverage against the shake-down artist if he ever targets Fox”
Oh, why should they need leverage against Jessie Jackson?
It’s time somebody put that shyster in his place.
My second question is why is BOR in charge of this tape?
I’m wondering also if Jackson admitted that
if the black community took Cosby & Obama’s words to heart,
his gravy train would come to a screeching halt.
Geez, everyone knows he’za poverty pimp.
But if there are more remarks that are more damaging that what we already know he said, then I might understand the apology? Jesse might be trying to nip it in the bud.
So Jesse Jackson was talking bad about Obama; who cares? That's only hurting Jesse Jackson, and won't do anything to help us defeat the Messiah.
BOR would only be in a position to blackmail if he had exclusive possession of that tape. But he doesn't. The tape was shown on every show on FNC last night, not just BOR's. Showing the tape in its entirety will be the decision of the FNC execs.
Bill O’Reilly pretends to be in charge of everything, he also has to constantly demonstrate his “fairness” with bizarre and flippant defenses of liberals. My guess is Jackson said some inappropriate things about a Fox newsbabe. It was strange indeed to say they have worse stuf but aren’t using it to prove how fair they are.
