Pelosi: Drilling in protected areas ‘a hoax’ By Jared Allen Posted: 07/10/08 01:28 PM [ET] House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday shut the door on expanding oil and gas drilling beyond areas that have already been approved for energy exploration, drawing a clear distinction from her counterparts in charge of the Senate.

“This call for drilling in areas that are protected is a hoax, it’s an absolute hoax on the part of the Republicans and this administration” Pelosi said at her weekly press conference. “It’s a decoy to punt your attention away from the fact that their policies have produced $4-a-gallon gasoline.”

Another important thing to add which would decrease the time and cost of refining.........ONE fuel mixture! for that we would need all the governors to get together. This business of different states using different epa mixtures is very costly.

Nancy doesn’t care what oil costs, she’s very rich.

PELOSI FLUSH IN REAL ESTATE AND OTHER INVESTMENTS

The sumptuous California dream lives on with Rep. Nancy Pelosi.

Vineyards in Napa County, hundreds of undeveloped acres in Sacramento, a Santa Barbara resort, a condo in Alpine Meadows, and downtown San Francisco commercial real estate — these are just some of the properties that the San Francisco Democrat shares with her husband Paul Pelosi, a successful businessman.

Contained in her financial disclosure statement as required by Congress, Pelosi’s assets were made public on Friday.
The reports are intended as a way to prevent conflicts of interest in the legislative process and not as a means to determine net worth, so the actual value of investment income, assets and liabilities are broadly reported.
The combined net worth of Pelosi and her husband chalks in between $12.5 million to $45 million. Their outside income, derived from rents, interest, capital gains and dividends, is listed as between $863,000 to $6.4 million.

As a member of Congress, Pelosi earns $133,600 annually.
The bulk of the reported assets are identified as belonging to Paul Pelosi, with the exception of some stock equities and real estate that is listed as jointly held between the couple.

“With skyrocketing gas prices, it is clear that the American people can no longer afford the Republican Rubber Stamp Congress and its failure to stand up to Republican big oil and gas company cronies. Americans this week are paying $2.91 a gallon on average for regular gasoline – 33 cents higher than last month, and double the price than when President Bush first came to office.

“With record gas prices, record CEO pay packages, and record oil company profits, Speaker Hastert and the Majority Congress continue to give the American people empty rhetoric rather than join Democrats who are working to lower gas prices now.

“Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.”

You’ve been in control for almost two years now, Nancy. Are you going to unveil the Democrat plan anytime soon, or is “drive slower and walk” all that you’ve got?

In the Prudhoe Bay and other existing Alaskan North Slope Oil Production areas the Central Arctic Herd Caribou population has flourished in the last three decades. At the same time, the Porcupine Herd in ANWR has been declining.

We need to hurry up and drill ANWR to save the Caribou.

The ills facing the American people today were created by the US Congress for the past fifty years. The human waste in the US Congress should stop blaming Bush and look at themselves in the mirror for the cause of America’s problems.

I just called Pelosi’s DC office to express my comments regarding the energy crisis. Her staff refuse to take comments; they immediately throw your call into a recorded comment line. Apparently, her staff doesn’t want to hear the anger that’s brewing amongst the peons.

So if it’s a hoax then I guess Madame Speaker better tell the Chinese that drilling off the coast of Florida is a very bad move!

$3.56 is an old figure. It’s now around $4 or higher, depending on where you live.

Boy it sure is. Lowest price here in the Buffalo, NY area other than on the Indian reservation land is 4.219. And the Indians are only selling it for about 10-12 cents less. Not worth the drive to and from the Reservation.

And that is part of the point. The deal on ANWR, and I hope we never make another especially after the Escalante sellout, is a portion was set aside. I swear it is time to throw these people out bodily on the sidewalk.

The classic Communist tactic of blaming the opposition for some bad thing that for which you're orders of magnitude more guilty.

Lenin invented this classic move: blaming the Tsars for jailing and torturing hundreds of Russian political prisoners at the same time the Cheka was rounding up and torturing tens of thousands.

The Soviets continued that until the very end. I was in college at the end of Carter and beginning of Reagan, and I studied international affairs quite a bit. Every single week Pravda or Tass would accuse the US of building something not permitted by treaty, fomenting violence and terrorism, hiding weapons, planning invasions, etc., etc. It didn't take very long for me to realize that the clearest clue to what the Soviets were doing was to ready their papers and switch the names. We could've saved a fortune on the intelligence budget just by doing that.

As for Pelosi, Reid and their fellow travelers: what absolute scumbags! We're all suffering with high fuel prices, which affects EVERY sector of the economy, and those power-hungry idiots won't allow more drilling, won't allow more refineries to be built, won't allow more coal production, won't allow nukes and won't allow full-scale development of our HUGE shale oil reserves (estimated at 9, count'em 9 times the size of Saudi Arabia's oil reserves). Nope, nothing practical from these enemies of the American people...we're just supposed to hop onto bicycles to get to work, and power our homes with windmills.

Congress is a hoax. At 9% approval rating I think maybe the people are starting to see that.

It’s a hoax. Truth be told Dick Cheney owns all the rights to all the US oil and will soon be making billions from that oil.
