Yup. Nobody made any money out of it, so by the rules in place at the time it was legal (and lots of other companies were doing the exact same thing).

No, he didn’t. In fact, he didn’t cause the options in question to be awarded, nor did he exercise them at any point. He didn’t even go so far as to discuss them with anyone. He just took the options and they sat unused on his desk for years.
Jobs wasn’t going to be charged at all, and Justice said that from the outset. It was Apple *board* members and the CFO that would have been in trouble.
