Barack Obama says "instead of worrying about immigrants having to learn English," we Americans "need to make sure our children can learn Spanish." Obama has consistently opposed making English the official language. In 2007, he was one of 34 senators who voted against the measure.

Lou Dobbs this evening pointed out in his commentary that Obama's remarks were "breathtaking," "pandering of the lowest sort," and socially divisive. He also pointed out the ironies that nearly 30 FOREIGN nations have English as their official language and that Obama himself knows no Spanish!

My neighborhood's got a lot of Italian/Sicilian, although that's being pushed out in favor of Russian and Chinese. (And, Hebrew will always come in handy...)

Obama is an idiot. The 2 official language mistake Canada made costs the taxpayer, small business and industry billions each and every year.
Unless we designate the USA as an English only official language nation, sooner or later there will be a demand that every can of soup, box of cheerios, speeding tickets and all government offices provide Spanish and English documents and services.

The cost to convert every written document and government forms into bi- lingual forms will be enormous.

But I guess for Obama, making taxpayers pay more and more for all these stupid and unessessary things isn’t a problem.
