According to the story it states that only 500 recently had their voting rights restored. I don't know what the total of ex felons with voting rights restored is but it would have to be a lot to actually carry the state for Osama. I would also imagine that most of these ex felons are not the type that would take time off of their “busy” schedule to actually vote.

I am guessing that the Ex Cons who while inside where members of the Aryan Brotherhood will not be voting for Obama.

I also guarantee you that a lot of these Ex Cons, while inside, became bow tie wearing members of Nation of Islam which will surely guarantee an Obamessiah endorsement.

I can imagine people who have lost something as precious as the right to vote, and then regain it, might make it a special point to vote. "Felon" doesn't say anything about a person other than they made a mistake, have paid for it, and are moving on with their lives. Prejudice and ignorance they get aplenty from their P.O.'s. They don't really want/need it from Joe Blow.

Members of the Nation of Islam and the Aryan Brotherhood can both go to hell and never vote again.

It could spell trouble for Republicans and any whites running for office if felons in Tennessee were given amnesty and allowed to vote. Anyone that has been watching Memphis could answer the question.

If the way things normally go here in Memphis are any indication, that is 275,000 votes.

As of May 10, 2007 all 50 states allow felons to
vote. Restrictions apply in some states.

The two most restrictive are Kentucky, where
voting rights can be restored only when the
Governor approves an application for an executive
pardon for reinstatement of voting rights from an
individual after completion of his/her sentence.

Mississippi, where An individual, after
completion of their sentence, must go to his or
her state representative and convince them to
personally author a bill reenfranchising that
individual. Both houses of the legislature must
then pass the bill, and the governor must sign
it. Each year about 10 to 12 people are
re-enfranchised in Mississippi.

25 states allow felons to vote after serving
their sentences and parole or supervised release,
13 states allow felons to vote as soon as they
leave prison, 2 states, (Maine and Vermont) allow
incarcerated felons to vote.

The other 8 states allow felons to vote with less
severe restrictions such as applying to county
boards or waiting 2 to 5 years after completion
of sentence.

Why not? They gave the governorship to Christine Gregoire in Washington State!

One can ask such a question about all states that allow convicted felons to vote. Could convicted felons give Florida to Obama? I doubt it. Besides, Obama could politically “fall apart big time”, prior to November 4, and that would change everything about the final results. Ironically, John McCain could also politically “fall apart big time”. IMHO, I would rather replace McCain with either Mark Sanford or Mike Pence, and then have Sarah Palin be the VP. These are the worst Presidential choices, and it seems like the Presidential choices get worse and worse every Presidential election year.

I thought part of a felony conviction is you lose your right to vote

Convicted felons are often Democrats because most Republicans are for permanent loss of rights and disenfranchisement upon felony convictions.

We should fight for restoration of rights based upon a merit system of earning those rights back. But we are too self-righteous to advocate it.

Misdemeanors are mistakes; Felonies tell me a lot about the type of person they are and their character. The recidivism rate for Felonies are high.

The numbers would have to be on par with Florida’s to have much of an impact. I’ve stated repeatedly I oppose granting (ex)felons the right to vote except under certain unusual circumstances.
