Soaring fuel prices dont have to keep you at home this summer when you can take your home with you.
That sums up the attitude of recreational vehicle owners such as Virg and Vickie Paulson of Overland Park, who are adjusting to paying $4 a gallon for gasoline and even more for diesel fuel.
We dont see that the price of fuel will have any substantial impact on how much we travel in our motor home, said Virg, whose Winnebago averages between eight and 10 miles per gallon.
We really do believe that the other savings more than make up for the cost of fuel. We want to be able to sleep in our own bed every night, and we like being able to pull off at a convenient spot when were hungry and not even having to open the door. It really is a convenience thing.
David and Irene Korotev of Blue Springs, who plan to travel to a number of rescue-dog events around the Midwest this summer, also like the convenience of their motor home.

They keep saying you can get an SUV for nothing, but I’m still looking (habit)and I don’t see the “drop off” the libs are screaming about.
Good luck getting your SUV, they are GRAND!!!!
Really! Do as you please if you can afford it.
A car guy on the radio yesterday pointed out that deales have a lot of those certified used SUV’s around now because people are trading them in and you can get great deals on them.
People need to figure stuff out and not panic. If you can save 10,000 on a nice, comfortable SUV and pay maybe 3,000 more a year in gas prices ...
well, I call that a bargain.
If only there was a way to make miniature nuclear-powered engines, for RVs, boats, tactor-trailers, trucks, busses, and limos. Cars and light trucks could still use gasoline. The price of gas would easily be cut in half.
My dream is to RV cross country (with the man driving of course. It would help if I actually got a man.....). I must say, I am a tad bit envious of you. I’ll get there eventually, but my goodness, I want it now!
I just looked up Rocky Grass and HOW FUN DOES IT LOOK!!! Have a great time.
I just finished reading them and had to comment. Their life is one big bowl of misery. Thank the Good Lord I’m not a lib!
I’ve given up finding a man. I’ve come to believe I’ll be single the rest of my life. It sucks.
LOL, I saw your comments. I hope other remark as well.
This metro-sexual crap has really put a “bee in my bonnet”. I'M THE GIRL!!!!
You said it. I contemplated on buying a RoadTrek and living out of it when I get older.
I did exactly that in 1970 for three months when Gas was 27 cents a gallon and a motel was six bucks.Campgrounds were virtually free.
My feelings exactly!
Hope you have may good miles in your “A.”
Maybe I’ll “C” you out there! (We are in a Class C)
The libtards won’t like it much, but hey, they don’t like anything anyway....the poor miserable b@$$t@*D$
Uh huh...That's why a good friend of mine that owns a rather large RV rental yard is down about 30 percent this year from last.
In a free country, that means it's nobody else's business!
Size does matter. I have owned tents to a 38 Ft Class A. I presently have a washer/dryer, icemaker, satellite-driven flat panel TVs, and go anywhere. Class B are fine for traveling, but lengthy stays are better with space. Add to the mix, that you can buy a big one for the price of a RoadTrek. I only spend 10-15 days a year actually driving it. I arrive at my destination, hit the levelers, and turn on the TV. I love the recliners...
I spend 6 months on the road. RV parks are clean, wholesome, and cheap. You meet some of the nicest people in the world, and spend time learning from others. For $3-500 per month, you get everything you need to live comfortably (Power, cable, water, sewer, swimming pools, etc), except food and a roof. I drag an older Windstar to wander about. Spot looks cool with the T-tops out, but the van keeps him from jumping and running!
My dog, Spot and "Baby"..
Those people would all have strokes if they came down to our local marina and saw all the gas-guzzlers on the water!
I am a single guy. From our point of view, a man living with a woman isn't all it's cracked up to be... but there are a few exceptions.
Why do you think we used to have so many explorers? There was no "office" whereby to escape...
BTW, RV makes excellent man-cave!
Okay you, calm your pits (j/k)!!! I was just stating there aren’t many Conservatives guys out there for us single girls.
Also just saying, it seems like “manhood” has been thrown out the window.
I like REAL men, a man’s man. There are very few left out there.
