Wish some things could be kept secret - why do we have to tell our enemies everything?? Maybe they knew or suspected this anyway, I don’t know. But the less said publicly about such capabilities the better......

btw, so it would appear that Ms. Betancourt also owes her freedom to the USA (of course we were also helping rescue our own 3 citizens and the 11 other Colombian citizens!). It will be interesting to see if/when an international socialist like her can ever acknowledge that she owes her freedom to the USA. I don’t expect it will be too long before she is back to carrying water for the international left.

Agreed...I saw a very detailed presentation on one of the cable channels last week that gave far too much details about our nuclear subs (including a live video from inside the sub). This serves to erode the value of our military investments at the very least.

You can bet folks in China and Russia had their fingers on the 'record' buttons.

I can say that any video inside a nuclear sub would be censored by the Navy. It might have been, “a rare glimpse” of something of less concern.

That said there's plenty of leaks...and America's enemies are lurking.

We told the world.

The Democrat/Socialist Party is spreading the rumor that the whole deal was a political ploy.

1. U.S. paid a $20 million ransom.

2. McCain was in Columbia to counter NObama's anti-Columbia posturing.

3. Fourth of July patriotism publicity.

4. It was a Republican/Bush Administration campaign PR stunt.

Ive heard Colombians say “give her back”. Sooo she gets free by her country...stays about a day then heads of to France?!? She goes there for medical treatment? Now she is the toast of paris...making all the cocktail parties and talk shows. And she has thanked France for her rescue!

Good money sez she will be on her way here to help Obama soon. Of course she will bash Bush and thhank Obama for all he has done to help LOL. Betancourt in Cindy Sheehans long lost sister.

She’s apparently a dual national and her children and probably others of her family live in France. It would seem that Columbia allows their presidential candidates to have divided loyalties.

Its all over the news. Regular folks have been on them for years.

Ten Tec radio publishes a blurb by KF5OJ about it in their radio manual

True but he people of Colombia feel they have been slighted by her fast departure. There may be more to this than we know right now.

Bogata bomb squads reprot finding several bombs planted around the city. FARC is not very happy these days LOL

My guess is that the Columbian government got the 3 Americans and Ingrid out of the country as fast as they could. FARC is undoubtedly very agitated by being snookered, and she would be a big target for them to recapture her or a family member, ASAP. Or kill her. Note that the 3 Americans were put on a plane immediately for the U.S. Plus, after the trauma they’ve all been through for so many years, about the last place they would want to be is in Columbia. It’s not safe there, ya know, at least not for them. However, Uribe should get multiple kudu’s for his army pulling this off, and we should give them their free trade agreement immediately. Only problem is that the Dems are as intractable as the FARC.

I’ve been wondering about how Colombians feel about her. For all the celebrity statesperson hype, I find her grating to say the least. If I were Colombian, I wouldn’t want her anywhere near my government.

Wouldn’t you like to know what went on in the minds of the FARC leaders when this all played out? Especially ‘Cesar’?

Nope, He was on the helicopter and whacked on the head just before they announced that the hostages were free.

I saw a picture of him sporting a shiner, and no doubt he is sitting in a Colombian jail cell right now.

“It’s not safe there, ya know, at least not for them”

I feel safer in Bogotá than in Memphis, TN. (Uribe would STILL have been elected even if Betancourt had not been kidnapped.)
