Lawmakers' verdict: 'Don't starve woman' (Lauren Richardson)
WorldNetDaily ^ | 7/3/08 | WorldNetDaily

Members of the Delaware House of Representatives have approved a resolution declaring "it is against the public policy of this state" for food and water to be withheld from a 24-year-old woman left with brain injuries following a drug overdose.

The case of Lauren Richardson is reminiscent of that of Terri Schiavo, the Florida woman who died after courts ruled doctors could follow her husband's orders to deprive her of food and water until she died.

The Schiavo case, on which WND reported exhaustively, ended in March 2005 when she died, despite a battle by her parents who wanted to care for her to overturn a court order allowing the removal of her feeding tube.

Randy Richardson, Lauren's father, now is battling his former wife, the medical establishment and the court system for the life of his daughter.

Judie Brown of the American Life League has issued a call to those who are concerned about such cases to help.

"The governor of Delaware, Ruth Ann Minner, is being asked by pro-life Americans across this nation to intervene in this case in order to save Lauren from what many fear is an imminent court order dictating that Lauren be starved and dehydrated to death," she wrote. "I am asking you to be one of those who communicates your passionate belief that Lauren's life is sacred and deserves to be protected from those who would order her death. The governor's e-mail address is governor.minner@state.de.us."

They want to be just like the Nazis.

This person suffering from hereditary defects
costs the people 60,000 Reichmarks during his lifetime.
People, that is your money. Read ‘New People’.

However, Lauren's mother, who has been named her legal guardian...

Why did the court only award guardianship to the mother?

This case, as well as that of Terry Schiavo, underscores the need for Americans of all ages to craft and maintain the appropriate legal documents that would be necessary in case of incapacitation or death (legal or otherwise).

I think any family member ought to be able to keep a brain dead loved one alive by artificial means for as long as they want to, as long as those seeking to keep the brain dead person alive put the money up for it. By the same token if the doctors are saying she’s brain dead, she isn’t going to wake up, her next of kin ought to be able to give the go ahead to pull the plug if no one else is willing to step up and pay for the continued medical care.

Not only do they want to murder the helpless, these cowardly bastards don't even have the guts to give them a "mercifully" quick death!

While we’re consuming our hotdogs, corn on the cob, watermelon, beer, et cetera this weekend, let’s give some thought to all those Americans who are being starved and dehydrated to death. Not just the high-profile cases, but the ones whose names we will never know. Take a look at my profile page for some scary facts about the percentage of brain injured Americans who are routinely starved and dehydrated to death. Is this what our soldiers sacrifice for? Hell no!

Enjoy that barbeque, and have a happy Independence Day.

Delaware is close enough to where I live for a trip to the scene if they choose to kill her.

A 100,000 people like me might make a difference if push comes to shove.

This kind of killing cannot be tolerated.

And to push for our legislators to get the legislation in place to make those documents valid and to have our wishes respected.

[...]a resolution declaring "it is against the public policy of this state" for food and water to be withheld[...]

Good! As long as they keep going, and declare that they respect individuals' rights and choices, and recognize that withholding palliative relief and more dignified methods of passing are equally anathema.

As painful as this is, the choice of continuing hydration/feeding should be in accordance with the wishes of the individual.

UNIFORM LIVING WILL OF _______________________.

To my family, my physician, my lawyer, my clergyman. To any medical facility in whose care I happen to be. To any individual who may become responsible for my health, welfare or affairs.

Death is as much a reality as birth, growth, maturity and old age -- it is the one certainty of life. If the time comes when I, _____________________, can no longer take part in decisions of my own future, let this statement stand as an expression of my wishes while I am still of sound mind.

If the situation should arise in which I am in terminal state and there is no reasonable expectation of my recovery, I direct that I be allowed to die a natural death and that my life not be prolonged by extraordinary measures. I do, however, ask that medication be mercifully administered to me to alleviate suffering even though this may shorten my remaining life.

This statement is made after careful consideration and is in accordance with my strong convictions and beliefs. I want the wishes and directions here expressed carried out to the extent permitted by law. Insofar as they are not legally enforceable, I hope that those to whom this will is addressed will regard themselves as morally bound by these provisions.

If it is permissible under the laws of the jurisdiction in which I may be hospitalized I direct that the physicians supervising my care upon a terminal diagnosis to discontinue hydration (water) should the continuation of hydration be judged to result in unduly prolonging a natural death.

If it is permissible under the laws of the jurisdiction in which I may be hospitalized I direct that the physicians supervising my care upon a terminal diagnosis to discontinue feeding should the continuation of such be judged to result in unduly prolonging a natural death.

I herewith release any and all hospitals, physicians, and others both for myself and for my estate from any and all liability for complying with this declaration, to the fullest extent provided by law.

I herewith authorize my spouse, _________, or my children, _________, or ____________, or any relative who is related to me within the third degree to effectuate my transfer from any hospital or other health care facility in which I may be receiving care should that facility decline or refuse to effectuate the instructions given herein.

Signed:
