I’m getting a lot of mileage out of that quote -
it’s pretty fun to shove that in a lib’s face,
because they know that our standards of decency have greatly DEVOLVED since the 60’s, and they know (though they’ll never admit) that it’s the fault of policies they support.
A case like that should never have even gotten to the Supremes.
The matter of what punishment is just for what crime is a state issue. At least it was until the 14th amendment.
But there’s holes in that. Because nothing about the 14th amendment was put in place to federalize punishment standards.
Put the creep in prison, then. Put him in GP, and let everybody know why he’s there...
