NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former New York Stock Exchange chief Richard Grasso won a knockout victory on Tuesday in his four-year fight to keep every last penny of his $187.5 million pay package, as an appeals court threw out the state's remaining claims against him.

The ruling, Grasso's second court victory in the past week, prompted New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to throw in the towel.

The New York Supreme Court's appellate division, in a 3-1 vote, dismissed two legal claims against Grasso brought by former Attorney General Eliot Spitzer in 2004.

The ruling follows a decision last week by the New York Court of Appeals, New York State's highest court, that dismissed other parts of the suit.

I agree. Eliot Spitzer was a charlatan who railroaded people into prison and extorted huge fines (aka kickbacks) from them on his way up. It doesn't look so good now that he's down, does it? Its a good day for justice in New York - and for Richard Grasso.

Maybe Omaha or Kansas City would welcome the NYSE if the state of New York continues to persecute it.

Nothing like voting with your feet, and that would be a massive "NO" vote to the state of New York.

Congratulations to a good Republican. Spend it wisely Mr. Grasso. (and hopefully on some good Obama 527s!)

Grasso was a looter, but he did it legally.Spitzer was a prick and he did it illegally, so the court has ruled.

Grasso didn't loot anyone. He worked for the NYSE for 40 years, leading it through the 9/11 crisis, and retiring with a fantastic parachute. 40 years for the same amount that Jason Giambi got in his Yankees contract after defrauding them by using steroids. Let's show some respect to a fine man and a loyal Republican, Dick Grasso.
