Follow The Money: McCain to Pick Mitt Romney As Running Mate
Co-ed Magazine ^ | July 1, 2008 | Andrew

Posted on 07/01/2008 4:56:30 PM PDT by Plutarch

Sen. John McCain will choose businessman and former Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney as Vice President, in his bid for the White House this November, a source closely connected with the McCain campaign, who asked to remain anonymous, told us earlier this afternoon.

Though others were close in the running, the choice ultimately came down to the money–not the man. According to our source, the campaign narrowed their Vice Presidential options to Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney, the two most successful opponents of McCain in the bid for the Republican nomination. But despite Huckabee’s sway with far Right conservatives and evangelical voters, Romney packs the deepest fund-raising pockets.

As a successful businessman and prominent member of the staggeringly wealthy Mormon community, Romney brings with him the potential to raise “upwards of $60 million in 30 to 60 days, whereas Huckabee could only raise $10 to $15 million,” says our source.

McCain needs those types of numbers to be competitive with the money-sponge that is the Obama campaign, which has 1.7 million individual donors–as well as the Hollywood machine–and is ringing-out advertising dollars across the country, saturating voters in his ‘50 State Strategy‘ to win the White House.

“How the hell did the publisher of the ‘Top 20 Side-Boobs of All Time‘ get this scoop,” you must be asking yourself, right now. (We were asking ourselves the same question.) And here’s the answer: It’s all part of the McCain campaign’s plan to directly target college-age voters, in an attempt to sway them away from Sen. Obama, says our source.

Additionally, the campaign wants to solidify their ticket far in advance of the Obama campaign making their VP choice, in order to get a “head start” on the surge in fund-raising they expect to receive with the announcement of Romney as the Republican VP pick.

So next time two dudes in suits knock on your door, they might want more than to proselytize about the Book of Mormon…

UPDATE: We understand better than anyone how crazy it seems that we got this story first, so a healthy level of skepticism is expected. But we stand by the accuracy of our reporting on this, and will give you as many new details as possible in the coming days–including the name of our source, if we can.

"I am so confused"

Yes, we know, you're repeating yourself. Of course, you could pull your head out of *omney's ass. That odor is not ambrosia.

Feel free to inform Mr. Robinson your opinion of those who dare criticize your personal false Messiah. Be as blunt as you like. I always enjoy a good ZOT! of a *omneybot any time of the day... It smells like... victory. :-)

Nice try, but that wasn’t my question, now was it ? I asked you to list all the names of the people he helped elect to statewide and federal office in MASSACHUSETTS.

Your analysis of the ‘06 election is, like most of your postings, half-baked. Leave a hapless 3rd tier candidate to serve as the standard-bearer for the GOP while you abandon your state to go whoring after the Presidency was the plan all along. Slick Willie Weld was bad, but even he didn’t do something as audacious as that.

I know, quite so. But we mustn’t let the liberal *omney trolls hijack FR, either. ;-)

"When I see some facts I will respond to them, as I have in previous Romney bashing threads."

You have yet to respond with anything but insults, lovebuggers. Facts are something that aren't in your corner. :-)

"He will give it up because he knows little to nothing about MA or Mitt Romney — well, nothing other than the garbage that has been fed to him by the likes of massresistance.are youkiddingmerightnow?"

Lovebuggers, I have written for a number of years on the subject of MA politics. I've probably written more on that state than any other. I know that buggers you, lovey, but what can I say ? I have yet to see anything you post that indicate any level of knowledge of factual data about MA politics. Your sycophantic worship of liberals like *omney also indicate a decided lack of reason, too (of course, if you admit to being a liberal, you'd at least be being honest). I've at least gotten many of the hardcore bots to admit *omney is a liberal. Of course, they don't do it until they've been lathered up into a Mohammadan rage. :-)

"Well, have fun stewing in your juices and getting angry over events and statements made by Romney in the past that he can't rectify."

It's everything he does from now on (were he to be the running mate) that is of paramount concern. A zebra does not change his stripes. He's not going to all of a sudden start being honest or demonstrating any level of character. That's just not in his nature.

"What good does criticizing him now do?"

It is to make it plain that the Conservative base will not tolerate a liberal fraud being attached to the GOP ticket (McCain is odious enough, but he still has time to put a giant like Sanford on the ticket and at least partly redeem himself). I not only do not want to see him as the running mate, but I do not want to see him in the Cabinet, either. He is not to be trusted under any circumstances.

"We criticized him through the primaries for it, as we should have, HE LOST THE PRIMARIES - but if he's being considered for VP by McCain, then that simply means per McCain that Romney's positives outweigh his negatives and is probably the best VP option out there out of a miniscule pool of Governors and ex-businessmen."

He has NO positives. None. Nada. Zip. Zilcho. He is the worst possible choice for VP for the GOP. He, however, would be an excellent choice for Obama given his record, his deceitful conduct, and his actions in assisting the Democrat party. I cited there is a substantial number of Republicans who are far and away an excellent choice to be VP, but I stand 100% behind Mark Sanford. He has almost no negatives, with the experience to step into the job of President without breaking a sweat.

"I have no intention of voting for Barr or the libertarians. If Romney can nudge McCain to the right some more, and if that helps McCain to stop pandering to the illegals and global warming nuts then voting for the ticket is a no-brainer."

How can he help to nudge McCain to the right when his entire claim of being a Conservative is a big, gigantic lie ? The man's a 100% phony fraud, period.

"Scariest part, we may have to have this whole fight again in ‘12, wasting another opportunity to get a real conservative in the running..."

Ugh, stomach-churning thought. Why doesn't he just pack his bags and move to North Korea ? He could easily supplant Kim Jong-il and have millions more worshipping his enormous ego. He can take Huckster (and all their bots) with him.

There was a reason the Founders didn't give the vote to women, the landless, and those under 18.

This is it.

Face the facts, big liars and hypocrites like Clinton, Obama, and MYTH ROMNEY could never have been elected dog catcher without the votes of those three groups.

The party is over, socialism is coming, courtesy of these three groups, plus illegals and the morons they sign up at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

And anybody who votes for a guy that believes that God lives on Kolob and up until 3 years ago at the age of 58 was still pro abortion has a screw loose.

Isn’t it amazing they all trot out the same talking points ? It’s like they all share the same central hive-brain (and a very puny one at that).

Seeing Ann Coulter’s name mentioned ad infinitum, it’s well worth remembering she openly sabotaged Fred’s campaign from the start and embarrassingly fell under the spell of *omney. She’s one of the reasons why we ended up with McCain as the nominee. I’ve never been able to figure out why she’s so well regarded by Conservatives, especially on FR, when she was taken in so effortlessly by a flim-flam man. If he had been fat, bald, and unattractive, would she have seen through him then ?

"October 2006, Coulter picked Romney as her favorite. We all know how much of a liberal Coulter is."

Yes, we do. You just illustrated my point exactly. If Bubba had been a Republican, she'd have been ga-ga for him, too.

More *omneycrap. If you twits had supported Fred as vociferously as you cling to your idol, McCain would’ve been dogfood. You’re the ones who gave us Juan.

Why not, this whole race has been the stupid year for the GOP why destroy a trend when you are on a role!

Those GOP voters that are considering holding their nose to vote for McCain because they fear Obama stay home, especially the south (Bible Belt, get a clue GOP).

You do not place a serious conservative with McCain you up your chance for a very great chance for a huge loss since your base is already pissed at you....follow the money.
