I noted back here that when Kos produced - not a birth certificate - but a certificate of live birth there were several discrepancies noted that pointed to the fact - aside from the convenience - that the document was most likely forged. Since Obama has failed to produce a birth certificate, in-spite of several calls to do so, is telling indeed.
I was born in 1958 in the State of Florida and I can get a birth certificate for ten bucks. I doubt Hawaii was so backward in 1961 that it cannot produce a copy that he could show.

UPDATE: Looks like some have filed the ole FOIA request to force the issue. Meanwhile Doug Ross thinks it’s legit.
One note, Certificates of Live Birth are NOT considered proof of citizenship in many states including Florida, while in other states it is.
Again, why not then just produce the damn certificate, it clears up the whole thing. Until we see that, the issue isn’t closed.

Unless there is an attorney on this thread who can correct my reading of 8 USC § 1401, I believe that he would be a natural born citizen even if he were born in Kenya.
I'm still wondering why some seem to think he may have been born in Kenya, though.
For what reason? So that his mother could meet her husband's mother and father (who didn't want him to marry her) and maybe his other wife?
Presumably the father was taking classes through May, and by then the mother would have been six months along. Would the couple have made what would have been a very long trip in those days if she was that pregnant?
If it were the case that they went to British East Africa, could they have hidden that fact until now? Wouldn't somebody have noticed at the time, and might they remember it now?
And John McCain’s first home?
He has said he wasn't born in Kenya, but in Hawaii. Specifically Kapiolani Medical Center. If he wasn't born in Hawaii, then what difference would it make? He is a natural born U.S. citizen through his mother.
What difference does that make? Constitutionally he's elegible.

We used to have all those wishful posters who thought every goof up President Bush made, was Super Secret, Super Genius Plan that all us dummies could not possibly understand.
Which says the president will be a natural born U.S. citizen. It says nothing about tests or requirements for proof.
Good on us now for checking up on what looks to be a very shady character.
If very shady character is the deciding factor then someone ought to have checked Clinton with a fine tooth comb.
Funny, Wikipedia now says he was born at Queens Hospital. Last week before this broke out they listed Kapliolani.

Why the deceit? Why lie? I want to know if he was born here or there? THe matter of naturalization is separate. I don’t really care about that. I want to know where he was born.
I thought the term was “natural” born citizen, which would be different than “native” born citizen. And either way, it would not apply to Arnold Schwartenegger, since neither of his parents were U.S. citizens, he wasn’t born in the U.S., his parents haven’t lived in the U.S. This Obama thing would have no effect on Schwartzenegger.

Hawaii was a state when Obama was born.
US Law very clearly states: ‘. . . If only one parent is a U.S. Citizen at the time of one’s birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for minimum ten years, five of which must be after the age of 16.’
8 USC § 1401, which is (sort of) quoted above, was amended in 1986 to require physical presence in the United States for "a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years..." It also says that "This proviso shall be applicable to persons born on or after December 24, 1952, to the same extent as if it had become effective in its present form on that date..." It's also worth noting that this subsection (g) only applies to persons born outside of the United States.
In short, unless somebody here can correct my reading of the statute, that means BHO is a natural born citizen no matter where he was born.
I am still curious as to why some seem to think he was not born in Hawaii.
For those interested in the statute, you can get it straight from the US House web site (after scrolling down quite a bit,) or in a more easily readable form from Cornell Law School.
WHERE has he produced a perfectly acceptable birth certificate? All I have seen is the Obamalama website doc and the Daily Kos’ doc...
Where is the microfiche copy that is on file(?) in the original files? Hawaii has computerized them all so all we get now is the green laser printed form.
But, I have seen pics of actual Hawaiian certificates on line that are the old timey negatives with white printing on black...a microfiche.
So, let’s see the microfiche document..then the discussion will be answered one way or another. There are enough real issues with Osamabama, I agree that this Birth Cert hooha is nothing worthwhile, but why don’t they just produce the real Kahuna??

The 14th Amendment states in part:
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United States and the State wherein they reside."
Further a person born outside the United States is a citizen at birth (natural-born) if they have qualifying U.S. citizen parent or parents, depending upon the applicable law. Such persons do not need to be naturalized, they are already natural.
And then they will turn around and say "Obama was born in the US but McCain was not", and all the arguments brought up will apply to McCain instead.
