During the Vietnam War, Cherry Point deployed three A-6 Intruder squadrons to the Far East

I've never hear a bad word spoken about the A-6 Intruder........(actually I have, but it came from an NVN SAM site. Died on their lips.)

WOO HOO! This place is right across the road (or two) from my great Uncle Mac, who is a retired Marine. I hear those jets every time we go down for a visit.

Now, if any of you are ever so inclined to pay this area a visit, please put this place on your list.

~ Today....Some sunshine with a thunderstorm or two possible this afternoon. High 81F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.

~ Tonight....Isolated thunderstorms early, then partly cloudy after midnight. Low 62F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 30%.

Now that (81F) sounds like perfect beach weather.

Time for me to make my rounds. But, you stay right where you are. Don't touch that dial. Don't change that channel. Put down that remote. Don't leave the room. Keep your eyes on your monitor. Cause...............I'll be bock!

I hate that base. That was my first duty station and there was just something that was not right.

this was back in the late 70's and to this day my wife or I feel that there is something just not right.

Where the PX and commissary are now is where lower enlisted housing was located, when we moved out the houses were leveled, of course they had to be cleaned prior to being destroyed.
