Florida: McCain Leads By Seven
Rasmussen Reports ^ | June 30, 2008

Posted on 06/30/2008 2:36:50 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Florida shows John McCain leading Barack Obama by seven percentage points, 48% to 41%. One week earlier, it was McCain by eight. A month ago, the Republican had a ten-point lead. This is the sixth straight Rasmussen Reports telephone survey to show McCain leading Obama in the Sunshine State.

McCain is now viewed favorably by 57% of Florida voters, a figure that has not changed since the previous survey. Obama is viewed favorably by 44%, reflecting a seven point decline in eight days. Even more dramatic is the fact that 40% of Florida voters have a Very Unfavorable opinion of Obama in the June 26 survey. That’s up from 29% eight days earlier before the debate over offshore drilling escalated.

He has a 40% very unfavorable rating. Someone's paying attention.

This is the Jewish vote in the Palm Beach/Broward County area. Am proud to report that I now have relatives who will be voting GOP for first time in their lives.

McCain should squeak out Virginia. But don’t be surprised if its the last time Virginia votes for a Republican in a long, long time.

If McCain is in as good shape in Florida as he seems to be, he is probably in good shape in the country as a whole. That’s because Florida is one of those states with a demographic and a balance of interests and concerns that seems to mirror the nation as a whole, at least in the last few election cycles.
