Global warming fixes not cool

Every attempt so far to get emissions under control turns out to be about money.

Let's examine an important question.

Are the major schemes created by global politicians to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, ostensibly to combat global warming, effective?

The answer is no, because they aren't about addressing global warming.

They're about making more money for governments and large corporations.

Let's start with the Kyoto accord.

Will it be effective in lowering global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions? No. It wasn't meant to be.

Kyoto, a United Nations treaty, exempts the developing world -- 143 of 180 nations which ratified it -- from lowering emissions.

Since the developing world will account for most future emissions as it undergoes the industrial revolution we began a century ago, emissions will keep rising.

China, exempt from Kyoto, has already surpassed the U.S. (which hasn't ratified Kyoto dating back to when GHG guru Al Gore was vice-president) as the world's largest carbon emitter.

Last year, China alone accounted for two-thirds of the global rise in emissions.

Kyoto's defenders argue it was right to have the developed world, responsible for most emissions up to now, act first, before requiring sacrifices of the developing world.

But that's a political argument, not an environmental one.

How can a trace gas in the atmosphere like C02 have such a large effect on the climate is hard to believe. This whole idea is a hoax

i have been on to the scam for some time. The article I reference below is but the opening shot of this fraud. The story is about Wisconsin farmers selling carbon credits for using no till/environmentally friendly farming practices. They get paid for farming the way they currently farm, thus no benefit is realized in reducing carbon, but the farmer gets paid off, and the global carbon market makes a buck selling the supposed ‘carbon credit’ the farmer is producing.

To gove you a current example of this fallacy, lets suppose some of the farmers along the Misssissippi River participate in the program. They sell the credits each year for the land they are to farm. The carbon ‘credit’ is sold on the futures market to a power comapny so they can burn some of that evil coal to produce electricity for my laptop. Now the problem is, this years floods wiped out over 1 million acres of crops along the river. The carbon ‘credit’ which was already sold is not realized. Who goes back to the farmer whose crops have been wiped out and collect the money he was paid for the carbon ‘credit’ his no till corn crop was supposed to produce? Answer? NO ONE! In the first palce, since he was raising crops the way he has been raising them, no benefit could have been produced/. In the second place, after the credit is sold, there is no way in hell for anyone to monitor whether that farmer actually did what he said he would do, whether all the acres he signed into the program were farmed this way, etc. It is a fraud being perpetrated on the world pure and simple.

Roger Cliff, chief administrative officer for the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation, recently announced plans for the program to voting delegate at WFBF’s Annual Meeting.

“Landowners that sign up for the program will receive annual payments for their carbon credits. We see this as a way for landowners to receive additional income from an emerging market by continuing some of what they already do with their land,” Cliff said.

“With approximately 1.5 million acres in 24 states already enrolled in the program; The Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s Board of Directors felt it was prudent for Wisconsin landowners to work with a trusted partner like AgraGate, which was created by the Iowa Farm Bureau,” Cliff added.

Geeez, we can’t control the weather, yet, some of us think we can control the climate. Fools.

Ever since the US refused to sign the Kyoto Protocol, the envirowackos have been going crazy. They’ve needed to come up with something to push the US into signing. This “global warming” hysteria is that key. Why do we fall for it? Unbelievable!

That is a great idea! Someone on this site should make us two or three versions of the communist flag with white hammer and sickle on Green background, green hammer an sickle on white background or green hammer and sickle on red background. Perfect license plate would have Environmentalism = (picture of flag)

The Kyoto treaty does not lower carbon dioxide emissions; it only forces developed world producers to pay third world despots with the United Nations taking a fee.

DAMN!

Have I missed an opportunity to sell off the oxygen our farm produces?!?

NOOOOooooo!!!

What a load of shiite. I suppose I have to pay for the potential carbon “footprint” that my mineral rights represent, too...

What a beautiful scam! Produce NOTHING but fear, and reap outrageous profit without any consequence for your lifetime.

Pity the children of the AGW believers, mind you. The second amendment has been proven an individual right!

Good editorial. It’s a shame that something like this won’t ever appear in a major domestic daily.

Kyoto has been 100% ineffective since CO2 continues rising at the same rate it was before.

Considering how much money was spent trying to implement Kyoto with no effect whatsoever, we have to say this is the most inefficient government program ever.
