Repeal the 2nd Amendment
June 27, 2008
No, we don't suppose that's going to happen any time soon. But it should.
The 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is evidence that, while the founding fathers were brilliant men, they could have used an editor.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Colonel MacCormick is rolling in his grave.
LOL ... By all means if the libs think they can get away with it then they should give it a shot. In fact, so long as they promise to get on 60 minutes and the rest of the mainstream media before election day, I’ll donate money to their cause.
Why is a defenseless citizenry so important to liberals?
They don’t seem to mind that criminals are well armed in spite of gun bans in liberal sanctuaries.
Case in point, the Pizza man thread running now.
The Second Amendment does more to protect the First Amendment, than the other way around.
(Want to debate whether crime-staggered cities should prohibit the possession of handguns? The Supreme Court has just said, “forget about it.”)
What debate was there before this decision? What debate were Washington DC officials allowing their citizens to engage in when they stripped their right for self-defense for decades? Isn’t it amazing that it takes a court decision to force the libs to debate?
I think the Tribune will be repealed long before the 2nd Amendment.
Because liberals want to control every aspect of your life and they know that some people do not like that. They fantasize about being the emperor in the cool uniform riding around in a convertible Mercedes saluting their adoring people. They dream about using the power of the state to kill off those that do things that they don't like, such as emitting too much carbon dioxide. They really want to shape the world in their image, regardless of how much death that means they'll have to dish out. It is easier to kill unarmed people.
And they call us the fascists.
The first thing the Nazi’s did was take away people’s guns.
Sorry Chicago Tribune .. we’ve already lived through one Holocaust and we don’t care to have another.
We know how you liberals think .. Barbara Streisand said it for you .. “Oh, I didn’t mean for those rules to apply to me, just to the common people.” ROTFLOL!!
This is really very telling .. the Chicago Tribune must be TERRIFIED of the “common people”. True liberalism.
This is a perfect example of the left’s disregard of fact; I wonder how many of them have argued with St. Peter about whether the train survived that fateful day on the tracks.
They want big gov to have complete control...COMPLETE CONTROL...citizens owning guns kind of puts a damper on that.....
Exactly!!
And .. I have always believed that was it’s “original intent”.
True fascism.
It is my understanding that the people in “the right of the people to keep and bear arms” is the same people in We the People mentioned in the Preamble. Does that not encompass all people?
It has been confirmed as a right, not a privilege. A right cannot be taken away. The bill of Rights is a guarantee against government infringement on a natural right, not a grant of rights. Ergo, repeal would not make it less of a right. It would only make it easier for a future tyrannical government to infringe upon our God-given liberties of bearing arms in self defense, even in the very cause of protection of our liberties, (as it was with the town militias and the British.)
“Why is a defenseless citizenry so important to liberals?”
Simple! Holocaust!
The first thing the Nazi’s did was take away people’s guns under the exact same pretext used by the liberals of today.
Ten years from now, we’ll see whether the Tribune or the 2nd Amendment still exists. Wanna place bets?
