A 17-year-old South Carolina boy on an church outing was killed Saturday when he was struck by the popular "Batman the Ride" at Six Flags Over Georgia. It was the second Batman ride-related death at the Cobb County park.

Only a mental midget would think that having compassion for a dead person would "accomplishes nothing or worse encourages more of the ignorance that created the suffering in the first place."
Once again, the compassion I feel is defined as:
1. A deep awareness of and sympathy for another's suffering.
2. The humane quality of understanding the suffering of others and wanting to do something about it.
The words that are bolded are the ones you should pay attention to. The boy is not suffering any more (remember he is dead), the parents and loved ones are left to suffer.
But you go ahead and teach them a lesson by not being sympathetic or compassionate towards them, that is your right. That will ensure that we do not "encourages more of the ignorance that created the suffering in the first place".

maybe in your own personality but my public expression of sympathy for someone who loses a child that I don't know personally and regardless of whether it was a result of foolhardiness is beside the point....whether it be the lady upthread telling us of her own loss or this kid at Six Flags.

The thread devolved into that long before I posted on it. I usually respond to every post to me unless they get amazingly tedious. Even when they contain little more than jr. high insults. When they do I don’t attempt to elevate them to a level the poster isn’t capable of conversing on either. But it is personal when someone puts words in my mouth that are nowhere near what I have said or think.
