The e-mail landed in Danielle Allen's queue one winter morning as she was studying in her office at the Institute for Advanced Study, the renowned haven for some of the nation's most brilliant minds. The missive began: "THIS DEFINITELY WARRANTS LOOKING INTO."

Scary, Dr. Allen leaves no room for anyone else but her to be correct! Be damned with Free Speech! anything that doesn’t support her thoughts are wrong, devisive, and smears. She indirectly calls Quaddafi a smear artist! Why? Just yesterday he praised the possibility that Obama will be elected “because Obama is like Us, a Muslim!” Dr. Allen appears to be a less than objective scholar.
You can bet your ass this lady will be in charge of the Gestapo equivalent agency in an Obama administration. I don't give a whit's ass if Obama is/was/maybe a perfunctory Muslim, but what I do care about is these CLINTONIAN tactics and hit squad underpinnings...This twit is only getting started...
You neverrr doo. Makes you wonder what Obama has to fear, I mean it was his campaign that tried to hide the two Muslim clothed women at his Campaign.
But, he spouts his idiotic Marxism so eloquently!
Brilliance would allow her to see that this is precisely what she is trying to impede through exposure.
Reminds of the story "the emperor has on no clothes" ... your eyes are decieving you... ...
Treating women as second class citizens is hardly a Muslim invention. English commmon law treated women like property. And Switzerland — hardly a hotbed of Islam — didn’t allow women to vote until 1971! And women aren’t treated as equals in the Catholic Church, and many other mainstream Christian churches. Countries where Islam is the official government-endorsed religion are really theocracies, and tend to have legal structures that embody and perpetuate a conservative brand of Islam. Not all Muslims — even in those countries — actually subscribe to those beliefs, any more than all Christians believe women must be “obedient” to their husbands..
“How does one stop it?” — How DOES one stop free speech, Ms.Dr. Allen?? It is a question the libs constantly are frustrated by.
The difference between Obama and Osama?... ONE LETTER

I'm having trouble with the puzzling incongruance between this comment and your subsequent reply less than 50 replies down thread massively quoting from Horowitz and his great book!
Am I missing something??? If so, what was it???
I prefer the Limbaugh Institute for Advance Conservatism, myself!!! (snort!)
Yes, I think he’s not a believer, too, rather a user-of-church-for-his-own-purposes. Because now he announces he just will not go to church until after the election. There’s something that’s really meaningful in his life?? I think not.
1) He may have Muslim influences that will more easily fit into a marxist worldview than Christian influences do.
2) Even if he doesn't, being perceived internationally as Muslim may help to solidify the growing acceptance of the notion that there are ultimately only two sides: white/j-c/capitalist v. nonwhite/muslim/marxist.
That last one is worrisome because it reminds me of something I read years ago by the author of "Subliminal Seduction," a look at advertising. The author said, "If you want to influence someone, don't tell them what to DO. Tell them who they ARE."
IDENTITY is the big issue today. As a school teacher, I am mandated... mandated to teach an entire literary unit based on the theme IDENTITY. When the available identities slowly coagulate into only one of two choices it's chilling because it's a very effective approach.
I'll offer myself as an example. When I was in my 20s, I saw only two available political identities in America. You were either a cool liberal, and your allies were MTV, NPR, and most of academia... or you were an uptight Christian conservative, and your allies were Jesse Helms, Pat Robertson and Jerry Faldwell.
Of course, this was a false choice, but I became a liberal in my 20s purely because these were the only choices I saw. Had I not been introduced to Free Republic and via FR, Ayn Rand, I might be a Danielle now. Identity is the weak spot, particularly for young people.
Obama being seen as the muslim-marxist candidate sets us up for a new paradigm. The solution, IMHO, is not to deny his muslim side because it's simply a cold hard fact that whatever his personal beliefs might be, his family and upbringing include Islam to at least some degree and it cannot be eradicated.
The solution is to make people, especially young people, aware that this use of Identity serves to force them into accepting that these are the only choices available. Once they accept that you're either a White Christian Capitalist or not, we are in trouble, because the other side has the best ad campaign, and all the cool background music.
And the average human IQ is only 100.
When you consider that Black conservatives are considered "not really Black" by the Black community, you can see it in effect already.
Here in an interesting exchange on my blog earlier this year. As you will see, my predictions are coming true.
"I as a black muslim in the US find it disgusting that they are trying to dig this up about him. Even if he went to a mosque and prayed five times a day, fasted ramadan and all the other things involved, that does not disqualify him as a good american, and certainly not as president..."
Nobody ever said it did and you won't find anywhere on this blog where I suggested such a thing.
"To top it off, he says he wasnt/isn't muslim leave him alone..."
From what I said in another post:
'Despite what they say though, the reality is that for Obama and many of his supporters the veracity of the rumors is not really an issue, what is an issue is the audacity of their opponents to dare tread into what they consider to be an illegitimate area of inquiry. We've all heard this same story before with Bill Clinton who never was able to wrap his head around the fact that it was his character that was called into question rather than his conduct.'
Barack Obama has not been honest and forthright with the American people, and that is what I find disturbing. Why should I or anyone else be compelled to just accept what he says and then "leave him alone"?
The day when Barack Obama "comes out of the closet" and says "Yes I was born a Muslim and practiced Islam in my childhood, but later converted to Christianity", then I will salute him for his candor and honesty.
In any event, I can assure you that America is in for an October surprise regarding Obama and at that time Obama will find himself compelled to retract what he said regarding his so-called non-religious upbringing in Indonesia. ;-)
At the end of the day, I still wouldn't vote for him though, because he represents a danger to our nation during a time when we are at war and because I don't believe in his Marxist politics. Simple as that.
-------------------------------------------------------
"That being said... even if he is not being completely forthright about how Islamic his upbringing was or wasn't can you blame him."
I totally understand why he wants to avoid the subject, but he lies about it and by doing so he is dishonest to the American people.
He admitted his drug use as a teenager and as much I might dislike that, I can at least appreciate his honesty on the matter. He needs to do the same thing with regards to his religious upbringing. Be honest about it.
The truth comes out, it always does and when it comes out on Obama (which it will) he will have to pay the price. Maybe at that time he will regret not being honest to begin with.
I strongly believe that virtue is a quality we should expect of our elected leaders don't you?
----------------------
"The American media is greatly downplaying Obama's Muslim past."
First of all Eric you need to understand that much of America's main stream media strongly supports the far left in the United States.
Secondly, this is an issue related to Obama's religious upbringing which in itself presents a dilemma, not only for the main stream media but for many Americans themselves.
As I pointed out above, there are many who simply will dismiss any allegations here regardless of their veracity as lies, by claiming that they intrude upon an "illegitimate area of inquiry". But once confronted with the truth, you will notice many of the responses from leftists here slowly change from total disbelief to "Ok so what if he was a Muslim, whats the big deal?" ie. the "illegitimate area of inquiry".
And when all else fails, the race card will be played. There will be violent allegations of hateful bigotry and racism.
Read through some of the responses here and you will see what I mean.
Somebody have a weed up the Obama supporter thinking organ?
I do use my first 2 initials and my real last name...I guess
I’ll get shot first and the bill sent to my family!
Reminder: Obama is running for President of the United States today.
