Fantasy vs. Reality -- time to face the truth?
This post is for any of you who still hold out hope that Hillary will emerge from Denver as the Democratic Presidential candidate:
First, I want you to know that I respect all of you. But I'm looking at this whole situation from a different point of view, and I just don't see what you all are seeing.
Second, I've been away from news most of the day and didn't hear any reports about the Hillary/Obama "Unity" meeting. But I doubt that anything that happened today would change my mind. I've had a lot of this on my mind for weeks, and just felt a little conflicted about telling all of you, because I know it will be hard to hear it.
I know so many of you have probably supported Bill and Hillary Clinton forever. Even though I didn't come here with devotion to the Clintons as strong as most of you, I feel as though my objections to an Obama Administration are just as strong as most.
There is much to be said for maintaining a positive outlook, but there also comes a time when we have to face reality. Because to do otherwise is very counterproductive in the big picture.
I'm just going to come right out and say this: I think you may be playing right into the Obama campaigns hands with this way of thinking. Why? Because every day that someone is not facing reality about this is another day lost that we could be doing something for John McCain.
Hillary has obviously moved on and is doing what she can to be a good Democrat: helping the candidate of her party. It's time for everyone to make their own personal, individual choice: either stand with Hillary and support Obama, or lets get on with defeating Obama by supporting McCain.
I honestly dont see a scenario where Hillary emerges from the Convention as the nominee, and I dont understand how it could possibly happen without complete and utter chaos. This may sound racist under the new "Obama Rules", but I believe it's true: there would probably be riots in the streets of every major city in the United States if people think the nomination was "stolen" from Obama.
And that is what they would think.
Look, I would be absolutely thrilled if the Democratic Party would wake up and realize how badly Obama is going to lose if voters learn the truth about him. Unfortunately, there is one too many "ifs" in that statement. I gave up on that hope right after the Pennsylvania primary.
It was right about that time that I kept posting about my own ultimate fantasy: that Hillary would announce a run as an Independent candidate. Although it would be a certain loss for her as a 3rd party candidate, it would still have had the benefit (in my opinion) of assuring Obama's defeat, and also of giving the Democratic Party exactly what they deserved from her. But I understand why that would not have been possible.
In any case, the media is not ever going to play fairly where Obama is concerned. And because of that, he may actually win in November. The MSM has already proven that they will do whatever they need to do to suppress stories that do not show Obama in anything but the most favorable light.
The media is only on Hillarys side now because they need her on Obamas side! So long as she keeps playing the game they want her to play, they will continue to say glowing things about her. Please dont forget how things were when she and Obama were on opposite sides. Look at the treatment John McCain is getting now. That is not coincidence; its no accident. The media has anointed Barack Obama; he is their Chosen One.
There has already been quite a lot of negative baggage for Barack Obama to carry, and the media has helped him out of every single problem that comes his way. How do you suppose it will be any different during the next two months?
There are 8 weeks left until the Democratic Convention, and 18 weeks left until Election Day. In my opinion, we can't waste 8 weeks on a fantasy. If you believe Barack Obama should not be President of the United States, we need to do something for John McCain NOW.
And if you guys are right about this, it's still a win for me because I want Obama gone anyway it can happen (and I promise I will be happy to admit that I was wrong)!!

Let's be clever to ensure defeat I know there is an underground movement going on to have the SD's switch before the convention as I read that website today, so there still may be a chance for Hillary. I also think that we are looking at a possible indictment for BO in the Rezko dealings. However, I do believe that we need to start helping McCain as you say in order to make sure to defeat BO. I feel sorry for McCain and they are planning to do the same to him as they did to Hillary. I think we should be moles for the McCain campaign while we wait this out to the convention.
I was thinking of getting out and doing a voter drive for Republicans to counter all the new democrats that BO signed up. I think this would be more productive in some other states than mine. The Republican base really needs to be awakened and shored up including getting a voter drive in order. That would help to defeat BO.
Of course, on Hannity, they were saying tonight that Hillary of course does not want BO to win because then she could not run in 2012.

I get your pragmatism, and respect your views. Just a couple of thoughts regarding your post. 1. Regardless of whether Hillary can actually get the nom in August, I feel it is imperative to protest the actions of the DNC, Obama, and the Dem leaders by first, actively pushing for our candidate, and secondly, by refusing to support Dem candidates. They need to know there is a price to pay for subverting democracy. My personal choice is to vote McCain if Hillary is not the nom, because I believe that's the only way to ensure an Obama defeat. Others prefer other alternatives, which should be fully respected.
2. If Hillary did win, and people decided to riot - let them have the hell at it. As sad and scary as that prospect is, the thought of being threatened and intimidated into submission in order to keep that from happening is even scarier.
3. Our support of Hillary necessarily involves researching and blogging about BO. In so doing, we are spreading the word about the deficits that characterize this fraud. Additionally, groups like PUMA, Dems4McCain, and others educate less enthusiastic Clinton supporters to the fact that there are alternatives to BO, and that party unity is not necessarily a good thing right now. All of these efforts will help, not detract from, McCain's campaign.
I recognize that it will take a major incident and/or scandal to keep the DNC from crowning their prince, but given Obama's record, the possibility of an Obama implosion is not too far fetched.

Look, we know the fix was in for bo, they threaten to riot, that was one of the first things al sharpton said. What makes us think the ge is not fixed already? After all most of the gop base did not want McCain, so if by some chance McCain wins don't you think they will riot anyway? Bo supporters are on the violent side anyway. As far as Hillary and the convention goes even if they did a roll call it would be just for show. I think we can work for McCain and protest at the same time. After all we've been called not true dems anyway and worse we've been called racist, uneducated, and the list goes on. We don't riot because we are more civilized, we wont get any credit for that, I get so sick of the double standard. I looked so forward to Hillary winning it, but I to knew after the pa primary that it wasn't going to happen, the media kept moving the finish line, and as she kept winning they kept making excuses by calling the people in those states racist and uneducated, they even surpressed the vote turnout. The media didn't care they just kept drinking the koolaide. I agree they will keep drinking the koolaide, but we need to stick together here folks.
I guess the UNITY thing isn’t working out too well. These hillophiles are spittin mad and will stay that way. Cool.
"Look at the treatment John McCain is getting now. That is not coincidence; its no accident. The media has anointed Barack Obama; he is their Chosen One."
Wow! She got that right.
That about sums it up.
Hillary has obviously moved on and is doing what she can to be a good Democrat: helping the candidate of her party.
Isn’t it funny what $30 million in debt can make you do.
Nice try.
Those posts could come
straight from the McCain committee.
?? ....nice try? do not get your meaning
All I wanted to do was give a sample of the discussion at hillaryclintonforum.net....thought it was pretty interesting and ironic that we are in force against an Obama victory
Last night on Nightline (ABC) they showed a minute from the stupid “Unity” event. On the surface, kissy kissy. Then they replayed old face to face verbal battles between Hill and Obie from months ago — whoa, nasty nasty stuff. There is no way on this earth I believe Hillary is standing next to this guy for any reason other than to get those campaign bills paid.
Even now I think something could change (we all want “change,” right? — and Hillary could end up the nominee, or at least help see to it that the Obamessiah loses the election, big time.
One Hillary supporter at “Unity,” a delegate, dressed in her Hillary gear, was in a verbal fight with someone who had caved in for Obama. This is what we rarely see thanks to the MSM’s love for Obie. But I don’t think this ugly mess is going away any time soon. (Hope not!!!)
