Obama Trounces McCain In Four Swing States

Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) is winning the race against Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in battleground states. A new Quinnipiac/WSJ/WP poll said on Thursday that the freshman senator leads from five to as much as 17 points among voters in four key states.

Obama narrowly has the support of voters in Colorado, where he leads McCain 49% to 44%. The Republican, however, has the edge among men, 50% to 45%, and whites, 47%to 46%.

In Michigan, Obama wins with 48% while McCain trails with 42%. The Illinois senator has a whopping lead among women, 52% to 38%, and African-Americans, 89% to 6%. But again McCain leads among whites, 48% to 42%, and men, 46% and 45%.

Minnesota voters also chose Obama over McCain, 52% to 39%. Obama's 17-point lead is the biggest among the four states, and is due to his overwhelming support among nearly all demographics. The freshman senator beats McCain even among whites, 49% to 42%, and men, 51% to 40%.

The picture in Wisconsin for McCain is not much different. The Arizona senator trails his rival, 39% to 52%.

"Sen. McCain's lead among white voters in Colorado and Michigan cuts the gap to single digits, but doesn't offset Sen. Obama's strength among other groups. The Democrat also leads by eight to 21 percentage points among independent voters in each state," Quinnipiac University said in a release.

"But Sen. Obama should not be picking out the drapes for the Oval Office just yet. His lead nationally, and double digits in some key states, is not hugely different from where Sen. John Kerry stood four years ago at this point in the campaign," Quinnipiac University Polling Institute Assistant Director Peter Brown added.

So is your solution for all conservatives to move out of America?

You seem to continue not to be able to grasp any picture larger than your computer screen. Since you have no ability for inference or logical thought, let me spell it out for you. Liberal cities like you name inevitably fail because of the decreasing ability of their citizens to support their tax and spend policies. The folks learn that they can't live on liberal policies and slowly become more conservative.

It has happened in large cities all over America... those of us that work and pay the majority of the taxes move away and the revenues are lost.

Cities full of lazy liberals don't survive forever.

All of what you have said has truth to it but again I ask, what do we do? Lay down and quit? Hold our ears and wait for The Rapture? Head off to The Gulch? I know of no other recourse but to stand and fight against those who would destroy the Republic that has been built on the sweat and blood of our ancestors. They may beat us down, but they will know that they have been fought against tooth and nail, and will not win a victory without a price.

Obamamessiah and the 'Rats are counting on people like us to quit, to make their road easier for them. Sure, they may face judgment someday, but that doesn't mean we have to lay down and accept the harm that they can do prior to that.

We have to stop looking to Washington for salvation and repent ourselves. I have been doing it myself. The reason the bad is triumphing is the Christians and conservatives are divided and the infighting has resulted in this:

Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.

and this:

Matthew 12:25 He knew what they were thinking and said to them, ‘Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.

I am all for fighting for the Republic but we have to get the power of the Almighty’s favor with us to overcome our domestic enemies. Read about King David’s humiliation and great triumph at Ziklag (I Samuel 30)It is time for all of us who love this country to suck it up and repent right now. I believe things will turn around if we do so. I have witnessed this for many others and myself in dramatic ways.

Is it possible for you to make your point without being so darn insulting? Doesn’t speak much for the rest of what you have to say.

The cities I listed have been liberal for YEARS and continue to elect liberals who perpetuate failing systems. THAT is what I said. What you said, that people have become more conservative after experiencing liberal failure HAS NOT been the case in these major cities. Your plan to elect Obama and have everyone learn a lesson about how liberal policy doesn’t work is based on the hope that another Reagan will suddenly come along at just the right time. But while liberals are in office, they tend to install a lot of bad social programs, which don’t even get erased by Reagan (note all the damage done by FDR and LBJ which no one has undone.)

By your logic, that means what Bush has said about immigration makes him wrong about the WOT, come on.

I'm just not into all of this ineffective, tactical thinking you propose. The strategic plan is not one that provides immediate results, but furthers the conservative cause.

For a foundation of argument, in your opinion, do you believe the masses have taken a liberal or conservative shift in the last 4 years?

If President Bush referred to his opponents as dumbasses in a speech and then proceeded to explain his plans for the WOT then the audience of people who would take him seriously would quickly diminish.

Again, you sound like you are contradicting yourself. You previously promoted this “tactical thinking” with regard to stuffing Obama down our throats so we could learn how bad his ideology is. I think a “tactical” loss is just a loss.

I don’t think there has been a big shift in either the liberal or conservative direction in the past four years. I think people vote based largely on personality, perceived character, and image. If Reagan had looked, sounded, and acted like Helen Thomas, he would not have won, no matter how bad people thought Carter was. Obama is doing as well as he is because he is an attractive and appealing speaker. But McCain can win based on character and a sense of authority.

His voting record demonstrates neither character or any "sense" at all. If you're liberal enough to consider voting for McCain against all conservative principles, then this isn't a conversation worth continuing.

If you’re liberal enough not to vote for McCain, then I guess you will do what you can to insure Obama’s election.
