Obama Trounces McCain In Four Swing States

Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) is winning the race against Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in battleground states. A new Quinnipiac/WSJ/WP poll said on Thursday that the freshman senator leads from five to as much as 17 points among voters in four key states.

Obama narrowly has the support of voters in Colorado, where he leads McCain 49% to 44%. The Republican, however, has the edge among men, 50% to 45%, and whites, 47%to 46%.

In Michigan, Obama wins with 48% while McCain trails with 42%. The Illinois senator has a whopping lead among women, 52% to 38%, and African-Americans, 89% to 6%. But again McCain leads among whites, 48% to 42%, and men, 46% and 45%.

Minnesota voters also chose Obama over McCain, 52% to 39%. Obama's 17-point lead is the biggest among the four states, and is due to his overwhelming support among nearly all demographics. The freshman senator beats McCain even among whites, 49% to 42%, and men, 51% to 40%.

The picture in Wisconsin for McCain is not much different. The Arizona senator trails his rival, 39% to 52%.

"Sen. McCain's lead among white voters in Colorado and Michigan cuts the gap to single digits, but doesn't offset Sen. Obama's strength among other groups. The Democrat also leads by eight to 21 percentage points among independent voters in each state," Quinnipiac University said in a release.

"But Sen. Obama should not be picking out the drapes for the Oval Office just yet. His lead nationally, and double digits in some key states, is not hugely different from where Sen. John Kerry stood four years ago at this point in the campaign," Quinnipiac University Polling Institute Assistant Director Peter Brown added.

You are INDEED logical and can clearly see the resulting outcome of an Obama presidency with a Dem. (or is it Dim/Dumb?) congress.

How will people hear of or become educated to the conservative message once the *Fairness* Doctrine is in effect?

Polls are now equivalent to actual elections?

What are these people smoking?

Polls mean nothing at this point.

Polls mean nothing at any point. Today, they are propaganda tools pure and simple.

I don't think I'm unique. I am registered Democrat and have voted democrat exactly twice in a long lifetime.
When I am called for a survey I always give the expected drone answers. I really enjoy the opportunity.

Remember Thomas Dewey?

Enjoy your next 25 years in a Dem party controlled socialist hell.
If McCain wins, you're 100% right.

And if Buraq wins?

You know, you trolls are hilarious!

It’s ok for you to have your views but it’s also ok for others to also have their views. At least you didn’t take the attitude that your view is the only moral view and you’re morally superior to someone who disagrees. The truth is that no one knows for sure.

You’re absolutely correct. Our side has the tougher job for sure that we cannot surrender.

LOL, I've been around here nearly as long as you have.

Besides, I find you ultra liberals hilarious. You at least keep it interesting. It's interesting to see how liberals justify their crazy lack of principle.

The masses are fed by the MSM and always will be. They will "hear" the message through their pocketbook.

Yes, and everyone is entitled to their opinions. What at least conservatives can agree on, whether you take the lesser of two evils or the principle only road, is that our choices this year were piss poor.

The GOP needs to listen to the right, and not move further to the center.

Hussein will be so bad, people with embrace self-responsibility and conservatism.

Yes, this has worked oh so well in Los Angeles. And Detroit. And the District of Columbia. And San Francisco...

I'm not surrendering. I'm redeploying. It did no good for the Anzacs to sit on Gallipoli under Turkish shells.

Time to clean out the trash and get ready for 2010.

Agreed... that's why there are so few conservatives there. They simply moved away. Also, largely why they're struggling taxwise.

Do you really think so? IIRC, at one time we had people like Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter, Sam Brownback, and Tom Tancredo in the race. It's not like conservatives didn't have choices in the primaries. He had horses in the race. Trouble is, for whatever reasons, they lost. They didn't garner enough support to stay in the race. That tells me that conservatives either aren't very numerous, or they didn't bother to work to unite behind a candidate who was strong enough to remain in the hunt. We had choices in this election cycle. We just didn't get it done. So now we have the choice, quit, or stay in the game. I'm not quitting. I will do my darndest to see that the country isn't handed over to an Alinsky-Fabian socialist without a fight.

Did you just decide to reverse your argument? Sounds like it. If you think people are going to learn a lesson about how bad liberal government sucks, how do you explain cities like the ones mentioned above, which keep clowns in office and perpetuate failing schools, for example?

Sounds like you can't read. The conservatives left those cities, which now wallow in crime, unemployment and tax shortfalls. Sounds like a good solution to me.

The day when Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter, Sam Brownback and Tom Tancredo are conservative, they'll gain support.

They may have been the most conservative choices, but that doesn't make them conservatives.

Your choices are to hand it to one socialist or another. They'll both do irreparable harm. I couldn't live myself if I voted for either Hussein or McGreen, McRein-In-Corporate-Profits, McOpenSeasonForIllegals.

I completely agree with what you say. I was referring to our choices for president we have now—not during the primaries. That is why I get a little tired of hearing certain Freepers blaming the RNC for this as though they went out and handpicked McCain and gave him the nomination. McCain got the nomination by getting the most votes from Republicans.
