Surrounding my condo entrance is a cedar fence. When Gov. Bobby Jindal was campaigning for election in 2007, I had no need to put up a sign to show my support and hope. A bumper sticker was already attached from his campaign four years earlier.
The sign remained fresh, as the fence is covered by a patio and carport awning. This sign represented a feeling of hope and trust that Louisiana would finally elect a governor of the people. A leader who would live up to campaign promises and when it came time ... would do the right thing.
I am shocked at Gov. Jindals refusal to veto the excessive pay-raise bill approved for themselves by the Legislature.
This sleazy legislation was ramrodded through when lawmakers knew that voters and constituents were screaming in protest.
This kind of slick maneuvering must be dealt with by the voters of this state. People, please get involved. We as citizens do not stand a chance of moving our state forward if we do not immediately stand up and let these lawmakers, and the governor know that the balance of power is with the people, as it should be. We cannot let sleazy, over-the-top and self-serving legislation get a free pass.
My friends will not have to ask why my Jindal sign is no longer displayed at my condo entrance. I am sure they have the same feeling of betrayal deep down inside.

Don’t give up hope.
On July 5th, 2005 the PA General Assembly voted at 2 AM to increase their salaries and those of judges and other state officials. To say that there was some unrest would be an understatement.
Within 4 months, the raise was rescinded except for the judges who sued to keep theirs (and the PA Supreme Court Chief Justice turns out to have colluded with the legislative leaders to arrange the whole deal.)
Not only that, public pressure persuaded 25 or 30 of the rats (from both parties) to decide not to run for reelection. In that November’s election, another 25 or 30 incumbents lost and for the first time in PA history, a sitting SC justice lost his bid to retain his seat. Another almost lost, but she too decided to step down before her term ended.
There is still a lot of corruption to be cleaned up, but our efforts (not that I am claiming any special credit — credit goes to Russ Diamond who started the CleanSweep movement and several others from both parties) led to an unprecedented turnover of 20% of the legislature.
Follow Russ’ guideline and keep it bipartisan and you might meet with similar success. Good luck.

Clarification and credit where its due
We have been studying the CleanSweep model for several weeks. There is a possibility it can be replicated here in Louisiana. I’ve not seen the electorate this energized in many years.
PS — The pay raise increases ranged from 16% to 54%. Some of these guys would have gotten a $40,000 raise.
Pa government is working hard to unseat Louisiana and Arkansas as the most corrupt state.
Two top GOP leaders were amongst those who got their asses handed to them and one Democrat leader who refused to pay back the raise he got was also trounced. We expect any day now that he and many others will face indictment on unrelated charges involving misuse of tax payer monies

The stupid party, always eager to put to death their own, if they are not 100% “pure”.
I don’t see anything in this sufficient to discredit Jindals conservatism.
