A few weeks ago we had a series of very powerful thunderstorms that sent trees tumbling all around the region. One was on the easement by the street just by where we put up the MOAB, and in typical Washington DC fashion the government hasn't gotten around to doing anything about it. If we'd have been out that night our MOAB would have gone the way of Dorothy's house.
However, tonight was a nice evening so we got the MOAB up no problem, and soon the flags were flying behind it
Honor Role of Attendees Your author Tom the Redhunter, VAFlagWaver, Chief, Satin Patriot, 3DJoy, RonGKirby, PrezUSA (in uniform!), BufordP, Mr & Mrs Trooprally, Fraxinus, Lurker Bill, Cindy-True-Supporter, and VictoryNY.
And WeldGOPHardline as our special guest from Colorado! WeldGOPHardline is also associated with the Gathering of Eagles (check out their new website!), and is a Blue Star Marine Dad. Semper Fi,WeldGOPHardline! God bless your son and keep him safe.
Mr. Trooprally sends this:
Standing on the Northwest corner a lot of cars had to stop for the traffic light. With the lights now calibrated for a longer Walk sequence when the wounded Vets cross Georgia Avenue, cars are able to take time to read out signs. It appears several also saw the Marine Corps cap I was wearing and I received two Semper Fi tonight and a lot of honks and waves. One soldier coming out of Walter Read yelled out of his window: "Thanks for being out here. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!!"
Over the years, we've had journalists of all types come by. Most are legit, but some are not. My experience at Walter Reed and elsewhere is that mainstream journalists ask good questions (what their editors do with it is always a different story). We've also had our share of journalism students. They, too, tend to behave themselves and ask legitimate quetions. It's the "independents" that you really have to watch for. Some will try and bait you, or ask "how many Iraqis did Bush kill today" type of questions. They'll try and get under your skin so as to provoke a reaction that they can film and use against us.
This night our visitor was of the academic variety. Assistant Professor Michael T. Heaney of the University of Florida, assisted by one of his students, a Ph.D. candidate, interviewed several of us. He asked our permission first and from what I overheard asked legitimate questions. Being fair, they had also interviewed some of the Pinkos down the street. I think he said he'd eventually post it on his website, so I guess if you want to bookmark it and check back in a few months you can see the results.
Here they are interviewing RonGKirby
One of our FReepers has joined the Army! Here's PrezUSA222 showing off his BDUs to FReepers Cindy-True-Supporter and PleaDeal
Flowers for the Troops
The energy level ratcheted up several degrees with the arrival of VictoryNY! She had with her a dozen yellow roses for soldiers that she later handed out, as we always have several come by
* Note; there's something wrong with some of the photos whereby I can't size them down. I was unable to fix this one, but wanted to use it anyway because it says so much about VictoryNY's contagious enthusiasm
Before long, cries of support for our troops rang out across our four corners
Thank our Brave Soldiers!Go Soldiers!
God Bless our Brave Soldiers!

Real nice report Tom, Thanks for taking the time to post it.
And you are right, [Mrs] T was in the right place at the right time alright. The bus had stopped and was facing her, so she was able to get a clean pic of some of our wounded warriors and their families. Otherwise the bus is usually in motion and hard to get a good pic or there is a terrible glare on the windows.
Tom - you have a late FReepmail.
[Mr] T

Thank you for the good AAR, Tom. Always thinking of you guys on Fridays. God bless you all for what you are doing.
Thanks for standing up for the soldiers! I wish I could be there too.
I donate to pro-troop charities, so I am doing what I can at this time.
It’s an unfortunate fact that the DC area is target rich for the reason it lacks people like you.
Thanks for coming out!
weldgophardline thanks for making the effort to stop by; appreciate your efforts out West.
From weldgophardline’ s photo it looks like the union has cut back it hours only 7-8 PM. SEIU having money problems?
Our bicycling buddy Steve was looking for you... Missed you and your lovely bride!!
Great report Tom!!
For the record, Mickey is in bed with the Pinkos. He goes to them for help. It’s not like his coverage of them is an arms length transaction.
Great job all.
Things are getting better up here and hope to be able to join you soon.
I miss it.
