Honestly, I’m not sure enough people know who Bob Barr is for there to be a “Bob Barr Effect”.

Bob Barr while at USC in 1967 joined the Young Democrats of America, and rallied against the Vietnam War.

His parents disapproved, and threatened to cut off financial support if he continued his “flaming liberal” activities

On the Colbert Report on June 4, 2008, Barr confirmed that he now supports ending marijuana prohibition, as well as the War on Drugs

At the 2008 Libertarian National Convention, he apologized for the part of the Defense of Marriage Act which prevents the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages ( Barr supports same sex marriage)

Barr has called for withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq, leaving no permanent military bases.

A press release from Barr’s presidential campaign stated: “The next president should commit to a speedy and complete withdrawal from Iraq, and tell the Iraqi people that the U.S. troops will be going home

Barr Does Not support the Patriot Act which has kept us from further attacks since 9/11

Barr has been a vocal opponent of President George W. Bush’s claim of authorization to wiretap transnational phone calls without individual judicial license. (Another favorite of the left.)

More recently, Barr has become a prominent member of the American Civil Liberties Union, sometimes doing paid consulting on privacy issues.

Barr had acquiesced to his then-wife having an abortion in 1983. He had also invoked a legal privilege during his 1985 divorce proceeding so he could refuse to answer questions on whether he’d cheated on his second wife with the woman who is now his third.”

Not a Barr fan myself but the McCain supporters could add untold numbers of names to their list of people to hate. The one common denominator will always be John McCain and the fact that he sucks.

As opposed to the La Raza/Global warming scumbag? I’ll take Barr over McCain anyday.

The big lead in your story should be why you believe the polls that state B.H. Obama is in the lead by that many points. Anyone who believes anything the media says about B.H.O. is simply nuts. Wishful thinking on your part about Bob Barr, but I doubt if he will actually make a dent in the vote.

Let’s hope there is a Barr & Baldwin effect - say in the neighborhood of 20% combined. The LP & CP both need to use the failure (yet again) of the GOP to nominate a conservative candidate to demonstrate that there is no fundamental difference between Republicans and Democrats - that at their core both McCain and Obama are lovers of big government and abhor the ideas of limited government and individual liberty.

Depends on the poll. Gallup shows them almost neck and neck.

Bob Barr has NO chance of being elected President of the United States in 2008. All his being in the race will do is provide an outlet for those who are pi$$ed at McCain, and the media will eat it up, because they'd like nothing better than to see Obama elected. Bob Barr will be the Ross Perot of 2008; nothing more, and will likely receive even fewer votes than did the hand grenade with a bad haircut.

Do the people really want change? Put Barr in there. Or is change on in the mind of Obama. Everyone said they want change. What do they do? The run three Senators. Where’s the change?

Gallup has them tied. Bob Carr was gerrymandered out of his seat and tried to beat another Republican- he lost. He will never be elected to anything of substance again. Besides, he looks and sounds like a child molester. Ughhhhh.....

Maybe the fact that Barr supports ending marijuana prohibition, as well as the War on Drugs
Also supports gay marriage is the big drawing card
for the Barr lemmings

Actually its the presence of John McCain that's causing the problem.

That would lurch the country to the left for as long as the Democrats want. It would make it hard for various factions of the right to work together for a very long time.
