Drivers who sport bumper and window stickers on their vehicles are more prone to road rage, say researchers at Colorado University.
The researchers have released a new study which discovered that motorists with personalized items on a vehicle are more likely to be aggressive drivers. Assessing the behavior of 500 drivers, they found that in the face of provocations such as being stuck in traffic, owners of cars covered with stickers and trinkets -- known as territory markers -- were more likely to act on their anger by flashing lights, tailgating and blocking other drivers.
Other major findings:
Drivers with at least one marker in or on their car were 15 percent more likely to retaliate when they felt their territory had been threatened. The more markers a car has, the more aggressively the person tends to drive when provoked. The specific content of the stickers -- be it "Grumpy old Git or "Baby on Board" -- did not make a difference in how aggressive the driver was. Drivers who do not personalize their cars get angry, too, but they do not act out their anger; instead, they fume and mentally call the other driver rude names, but then move on. Another study, from the University of Maryland, has discovered that people who get upset while driving also get worked up at children's sporting events. Researchers said an "ego defensiveness" comes into play, which is common to both road rage and touchline rage.

I have a Vietnam Service Ribbon decal on my car so I have to drive more carefully.
You are a ticking time bomb! ;}
During the 2004 election, I had several anti-Kerry stickers on my car, plus a Freedom is not free sticker on the window. Some young girl tried to run me off the freeway four times before I called 911 and let her see me doing it. I never did get he license number because I was too busy trying to stay on the road.

I can honestly say that 90% of the time it was a sour pussed older lady with a butch hair cut, a young nerdy student, or a goth freak with face piercings.
It was almost a given that it would be one of those three so I would check my theory every chance I got and laugh like crazy when it proved to be accurate.
Lots of Kerry fans wondered what I was laughing at I'm sure. Screw em if they can't handle being a joke.
The phrase “linked to” doesn’t necessarily imply causation, it implies correlation, which is a fact.
If people who had a newborn in the last year tended also to have a cherry tree in the yard this would also imply an association, but not necessarily causation.
Some third factor in each case is where the causation lies (i.e. tendency to emote forcefully in the bumper sticker case).
I've seen some RAT versions of this I slightly altered.
Bet that would tick them off once they got close enough to read the fine print. :)
Cars like this dominate Boston neighborhoods and suburbs like Brookline, Cambridge, Wellesley, Newton, Weston in MA
A citizen is suspect in my neighborhood if the car isn't covered in crappola. My car is bumper sticker free.
Howie Carr, WRKO features a moonbat mobile each week on his Web site: www.howiecarr.com
Jeez, they must have relatives over here in Moscow Idaho.. LOL
I’ve seen vehicles with the same stickers...
Good folks out in the Midwest need to hang on to their wallets. Moonbats don't believe in private property rights.

Tons of them head up from California, they bring their socialist thinking with them, they’ve really screwed up Coure’de’laine Idaho.. after they csrew up the Northern States for a while, plenty of them move on the BC Canada.. we have plenty of them up here in BC.
I’m figuring on getting that reaction when I get my anti-Obama bumper stickers. However, being in NV, it shouldn’t be nearly as dangerous as in CA.
I live in a small town and have a window decal with the name of my church on it. Have to drive nicely - not always easy!
It is a given that whenever I see a car from a distance plastered with decals, they will have many of the stickers or similar to the ones in the picture. Never fails.
One driver in an Audi overtook me on the highway, cut me off, then shot me the finger in his rear view mirror and mouthed something. He had a Kerry Edwards sticker, of course.
Later that afternoon, an older woman this time, honked to get my attention while waiting at a light and when I rolled down my window, let loose with a volley of expletives and insinuations about my affiliation with various neo nazi groups. She became even more insistent when I rolled the window back up and flashed her the three fingered "W" sign. She had a number of "Bush Lied, People Died" and similar stickers plastered on her car.< p> Angry people, I tell you.
