Special Duty Report (Phoenix Police Report)

Subject: Special Duty Report
1. Maryvale Precinct, Homicide/Home Invasion, 8330 W Cypress Street, 2255 hours,(81073152), reported by Sgt Ali 81G Special Assignments Unit Officers were in the area of 8300 W Encanto when they heard 50+ rounds fired in the area. Moments later a shooting call came in for the residence. SAU and patrol cleared the residence and found one adult male deceased inside the residence. An SAU Officer located the suspect vehicle leaving the area and it was followed to the area of yth Street and McDowell where several suspects bailed. A perimeter was established and during the next 2 Y2 hours, 3 adult male suspects were taken into custody, 1 being bitten by a Kg. A drug related robbery appeared to be the motive. Homicide took disposition.
This incident appeared to be a drug rip where the suspects were dressed in black boots, black BOU’s, Phoenix Police Raid Shirts, and they were armed with handguns, AR-15’s with Aimpoint sights, Body armor, ballistic helmets and thigh holsters. They raked windows, breached doors and laid suppression fired as they made entry into the house. One suspect vehicle was left near the Cypress scene, while the red Tahoe fled into 500. SAU Officer Brian Esperum, in an unmarked car, controlled the marked unit response as the vehicle slowed into the alley at 7th Street and McDowell. As the Air Unit came overhead the suspects went deeper into the alley and then bailed from the vehicle. The perimeter lasted for over two hours. 2 Handguns, 2 AR-15’s, body armor and helmets were found in the Tahoe. I believe the only reason there was not a violent confrontation, was the control of the officers at the mouth of the alley and the fact that the suspects failed to properly manage their ammo. As the suspects were preliminarily questioned, one suspect advised that he was Mexican military where his group targets drug dealers and their stash houses. They were trying to lure the officers deeper into the alley. I have asked ACTIC to gather intel from this incident and publish a hazard to officers bulletin. It was very unnerving to see these suspects being taken into custody the way they were dressed. It is not hard to assume that this actiVity will continue.

how many other no knock raids have you been on...
should our military... knock before they enter a tali ban hideout
you only use anecdotal evidence base on one experience.....
you don't address the fact that this is a changing world and these tactics are necessary
You saying the military engaging in combat operations should follow the same rules as law enforcement?
no i was actually trying to make a point to Colorado Doug that his assertion that no knock raids were silly and a waste is incorrect... and i forgot to punctuate properly
I was trying to use that as a compartive statement that our law enforcement officers are facing the same danger that our soldiers are facing everyday overseas... and that law enforcement should be using what ever tactics are the most productive and limit collateral damage, but not to the point were they are risking their own lives....
CD bases his comment of experincing one no knock raid with one police department and condems the actions all together...
I was simply trying to assert that using his logic on that then it mean that anyone using those tactics is being silly and dangerous... my self personally I think dynamic entery procedures are the safest and the best way to go for law enforcement or the military... less risk all the way around.
I believe that the us military is not acting agressive enough in this war on terror...
thank you donna
i hear now on the news that phx pd are sort of denying this
and denying what the plea spokesman said on air yesterday (spencer i think is his name) but he still stands by his comments
seems like jack harris is busy?
laughing at pic, but a little confused
left and right both look like cheney?
The whole thing has been kept too hush-hush for some reason. Clearly there is a bigger story here and the police don’t want us to know what it is.
They always deny everything until a week later - then the media can ignore the truth.
I’m waiting to see what JD Hayworth comes up with on his show today.
Fine print: Dispatches from the Country Formerly Known as America
I think the guy on the left might be Karl Rove.
ah thank you

Unfortunately for me it is only about a mile and a half to 83rd and Osborn... This is in the Maryvale precinct and considered to be the most dangerous precinct in Phoenix to be a police officer for along time now. We see the police helicopter regularly, police chases though the neighborhood and hear gunfire a few times a week, but when you go looking for news the next day as to what happened, nothing is to be found... we are also the most ignored area by the media.
Not at all surprising.
My parents live at 63rd Ave. and Thomas.
Thomas from 59th Ave. to 43rd Ave. is a combat zone from what I’ve heard.
We’ve all moved away - Surprise, Goodyear, and Sierra Vista.
Realize I’m late to this thread.
Last spring my county HS went into lockdown. City PD, Sheriff, State Troopers and SWAT (dressed to the nines) responded.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. The problem? Someone found an unfired .22 bullet in the grass outside the school. This school is in a rural setting.
BTW, this was right after squirrel season opened.
az republic/az central still has nothing about this, but one of their top picks as a story is what obama has on his ipod
has this country become a culture of pop icons? and that is news?
did it start with billy and the boxers or briefs interview?
can anyone pin point a time frame as to when it became all about pop culture? and to heck with serious issues that effect the country?
