Dodd Must Clear Air Over Deals
The Hartford Courant ^ | June 22, 2008 | Kevin Rennie

NOW YOU KNOW

When cornered, Sen. Christopher J. Dodd maintains an ambiguous relationship with the truth. His clumsy and contradictory explanations of the favorable mortgage deals he received from Countrywide Financial continue to shred his credibility.

Dodd would spew righteous venom over anyone who offered the Senate testimony as convoluted as what Dodd has served us in the past 10 days.

"Outrageous," he thundered in a press release on Friday the 13th. How dare anyone suggest he would derive a personal benefit from his public trust? With that, he skedaddled out of Washington, officially traveling and unavailable in the communications age. One more profile in courage.

That first call from David Golden of Portfolio, a Conde Nast business magazine that broke the story, shifted Dodd's tectonic plates. He had quietly luxuriated in two sweet deals for nearly $800,000 in mortgages. Lately, he had enjoyed tossing some lightning bolts at the mortgage industry as it crumbled. Oh, those greedy capitalists...

Dodd is a Dem and like Jefferson he will get a pass.
Now if he were a Republican he’d be hounded out by the press and his peers.

Can someone point me to the story where our side called for an independent investigation and for Dodd to step down from his chairmanship, I missed that one.

It looks like the play is..

B of A buys a troubled Countrywide for a song, the Congress bails out Countrywide, raising its worth back to pre-trouble levels, and B of A makes a killing.

Oh, B of A execs have ‘contributed’ $70k to Dodd.

Think that about covers it.

He’s as DIRTY as they come...a TYPICAL DEMOCRAT, and NOTHING will happen to him because he is a Democrat!

Nothing will happen. All you need to know is that Dodd is a democrat. Democrats get away with all sorts of crimes. Outrage and investigations are reserved for Republicans.

Dodd should simply confess and turn himself in to the authorities.

“Dodd Must Clear Air Over Deals”
Why? What would happen if he does exactly what William Jefferson DEMOCRAT of Louisiana has done?
Answer nothing.
Being a democrat means never having to apologize or explain your actions. Hey if dodd wanted to be accountable he would have become a Republican. Remember this is the guy who was the other slice to teddie’s in that under the table waitress sandwich. “Clear air?” My ash!

wasn’t his dad, Tom censured for corruption? I seem to recall him hiding in the cloak room whilst his colleagues censured him...

maybe it’s true about how far the apple falls

Pig must have grown wings...

Someone must have used the jaws of life to pry the Hartford Courant’s lips off of Dodd’s ass.

"Outrageous," he thundered...

"Outrageous," in Dodd's mind, that a newspaper even mentioned it.

This would be the story of the year if Dodd was a Republican.

Shame on the MSM, the New York Times, and the Washington Post for downplaying this story.

Dodd's big defense - - and casual warning to those who might do future favors for him - - is to make sure that he's ignorant of the favors being done. What a joke.

Well Dodd, I can't get your deal - and no other American citizen can get your deal either. Well, unless they're on the take.

You knew it. Your innocent virgin bit is more offensive than padding your pocket on our dime. You've been around the block a few times Dodd. Don't try to play innocent - it makes you look like a fool.

And faked ignorance is not a defense either.

“This would be the story of the year if Dodd was a Republican.”

Yeah, for sure. I pulled this list of the various committees Dodd is either currently on or has served on “Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; Foreign Relations; Health, Education, Labor and Pensions; Joint Committee on the Library; Rules and Administration”. So, Dodd having this extensive background in finance and such wants us to believe that he had no inkling that he was receiving favorable rates and treatment? In the remote possibility that Dodd is indeed telling the truth about his ignorance, he has to be the dumbest person to have ever served on these various committees. Perhaps this is the reason that the Left/Democrats have passed or attempted to pass so many stupid pieces of legislation?

You know, nothing is going to change in the senate or the house until we the people descend on it with torches, pitchforks and plenty of rope.
