A 17 year old young man was attacked Saturday evening near the Buttes-Chaumont, in Paris, in what has been denounced as an anti-Semitic attack.
The group said that the 17-year-old was wearing a kippa, and walking through a neighborhood where many Jewish families live, when he was beaten Saturday night in eastern Paris.
Police said they detained five people for questioning, but were still investigating the reasons for the assault.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy, leaving for a visit to Israel later Sunday, as well as the Minister of Interior, Michèle Alliot-Marie, expressed their indignation as well their support towards the family of the victim, who is currently in a coma.
Sarkozy issued a statement "renewing total determination to fighting all forms of racism and anti-Semitism."
An umbrella organization of French Jewish groups said about 15 people appeared to have ganged up on the boy. It was not immediately clear if any weapons were used.
The teenager's father told RTL radio that his son was in a coma. The Paris hospital network said the teenager was in intensive care at the Cochin Hospital in Paris. The family's identity was not released as the teenager is a minor.
France has western Europe's largest population of both Jews and Muslims. The nation faced a surge in anti-Semitic crime starting in 2000 after tensions between Israelis and Palestinians flared up in the Middle East.

Strange... 259 words but no room for one more, MUSLIM.
The XIXe arrondissement in Paris is mostly populated by Arabs and Africans. The enormous majority of them are illegal aliens. And of course they are Muslims.
The victim, Rudy, was obviously singled out because he was wearing a skullcap. The attackers are not French. They are Muslims. They are not French.
The French Jewish intellectuals, ironically enough, have turned Muslims into a protected species that cannot even be criticized without the critics being demonized and vilified by the French media. Associations such as SOS Racisme have been playing a role similar to CAIR, only much more successfully. Also, these associations have few members and exist mostly thanks to public subsidies from taxpayers. SOS Racisme and many similar associations were created by Leftist Jews, who apparently didn't foresee that they were harboring their own worse enemies.
I guess this organization never thought about setting up neighborhood watch groups or encouraging people to move in groups and maybe even learn some self defense techniques...
The Jew Haters are the French who let this continue

I’m part French myself...maybe 1/32nd but they threw my Huguenot ancestors out too.
Oh well....I like Sarkozy and Carla but France to be so culture driven is sure giving it up to Islam and why they pick on Jews beats me.

I wish we were in Paris: we are in Italy, Denmark, Macedonia and London. It would be dead-simple to get a Guardian Angels presence in France. All we need is local Volunteers.
In fact, I would certainly Volunteer to get it going: tho’ I’m not Jewish I’m fluent in French and I have no sympathy for packs of criminal mungrels who pick on single victims en-masse.
If the Jews in Paris are of a mind to get a Chapter going, I’d be keen to make it happen. No worries.
I wonder how I get hold of this umbrella organization of Jewish Groups (anyone any ideas?)
And naturally, prayers for the Jewish kid who’s in a coma. He didn’t deserve that at all.
