Kos’s Obama Birth Certificate Fake? [Hawaii Says It Did not Use "African" on Certs]

Kos is gloating over producing Barack Obama’s birth certificate.  First, generally vital statistical records are not available to anyone except the subject of the record unless they have signed a release (I’m checking Hawaii’s laws).   Perhaps the “Light Being” gave him a copy, who knows.  But the interesting thing about this certificate is the description for race on Obama’s father, it lists him as “African”.   In 1961 all Live Birth certificates contained the word “Black”, which is a race, not African.  

Not that it can’t be real, and I really don’t care, but hey, this is “Screw ‘em” Kos.   Take a look.

But I checked with the vital statistics registrar in Hawaii and the “African” nomenclature is incorrect.  In 1961 it would have been “black” or even, “negro”.

Are there any FReepers born in HI in the early 1960’s that have a BC that looks similar to this? I am not much younger than the big O, and my birth certificate looks nothing like this. This looks way too modern to have come from the 1960’s. I was born in another state, though.

Which always prompts me to ask the question, “If a White man who was born and raised in the Republic of South Africa moved to the US and became naturalized, would he be an “African-American”?

I think Charlize Theron claims that very thing.

Seems a bit fishy to me also it looks like this was created on a modern day machine they don't do that kind of stuff they usually photocopy originals they don't remake originals on the fact it can be to easily altered !

Absolutely...just as all Americans are not white, all Africans are not black. We have family friends that are "white" Afrikaners.

I think you are wrong on this. At least in the Midwest the term was colored. There were signs everywhere back then saying, bathroom for ‘Colored’s’, drinking fountain for ‘Colored’s. some signs just pointed to the bathroom or fountain and said, ‘Colored’, as did other signs which said ‘White only’.

The document is a recently produced "certification of live birth" -- often issued when you can't find the original birth certificate. I have one from San Antonio, and it looks like that (except I'm not an African).

I'm sure most people understand that an actual birth certificate has the mother's age at birth, mother's place of birth, child's gender, weight, sometimes footprints, etc -- in other words, all the vital stats collected by the dep't of health.

Some intrepid reporter needs to go to Honolulu, find the clerk that issued the "Certification of Live Birth" and ask to see the documents it was based on.

There is no such office. Which is why the issue must be raised. Ultimately eligibility questions would go to the Supreme Court.

I’m not sure of the exact years. “Colored” was the earlier polite term, and “black” was avoided, but the black activists attacked “colored” as demeaning and insisted that they were black. “Negro” had been the neutral, scientific term, but black replaced it. whether that was beginning to happen when Obama was born, or a little later, I’m not sure.

“Persons of color” later came in as a correct term, but “colored” is still out. And of course “persons of color” means to include all the designated minority groups except whites. But I don’t believe Japanese or Chinese or American Indians would be inclined to use it to describe themselves except in academic settings. In other words, it supposedly means all people except whites, but in practical usage usually means blacks.

Hawaii does not permit release of birth certificates without the person's permission, and Obama has repeatedly refused to give his permission.

Wrong. All 1961 birth certificates would NOT have used the word “black” in that situation. They would have said Negro.

Explain how those two declarations AREN'T contradictory in the context of this discussion?

I just received a copy of my son’s birth certificate from California. It had my maiden name, husband’s name, our dates of birth and where we were born. It showed a signature from the doctor and when it was filed, along with the date, time and location of my son’s birth. Lots of info. It also had the embossed seal.I admit, that each state may be different along with time changing what all is included.

I was born in California in 1955. When I got a copy of my birth certificate it was a printout from a micro-fisch, printed on Los Angeles County certificate paper. It was fugly. This thing looks just too pretty.
Fast forward to 2007, and copies of my twins birth certificate are printed directly to certificate paper.
