Iran’s nuclear facilities are too hardened to be directly rendered ineffective by conventional Israeli airstrikes, even multiple ones... and possiby even by unconvetional (read: bunker-busting) strikes.
But, those facilities prob aren;t self-sustaining. They need fuel, maybe electricity, people, etc. And they also need to be run by a goverment & military with a leadership that is still alive, and one that is not overturned by a people who are begging for the pain to stop.

Churchill didn't hope for Pearl Harbor... but he thanked God America was finally in the game. You have a much less cynical view of human nature than I do. :-)
See Post 40.
I believe than Churchill probably did hope that something, whatever it needed to be, brought the U.S. into the war on the British side. Britain's very survival depended on it.

"To have the United States at our side was to me the greatest joy. Now at this very moment I knew the United States was in the war, up to the neck and in to the death. So we had won after all!...Hitler's fate was sealed. Mussolini's fate was sealed. As for the Japanese, they would be ground to powder." ...... Winston Churchill writing about his reaction to Pearl HarborSomeone's read Churchill's memoirs... ;)

The monthly expiration of the futures contract is also happening, and the lowering of Chinese fuel price support is now seen as driving crude oil up rather than down as it was yesterday. Market analyst appears to be a flexible job description. This happened AND that happened, therefore Cause-Effect and tomorrow the opposite and no one with actual money involved even cares.

If only we had half the intestinal fortitude that the Israelis have. We are doing nicely thank you both in Iraq and Afghanistan and other terror havens that fall below the radar. Israel could not be more pleased, we are a staunch and reliable Allie ... they owe their existence, in many respects, to the U.S..

"If they could maneouvre the US of A to do another war, sure, but Israel will not fight alone." Please explain the latest foray by Israel into Lebanon, alone.

Bluff. If they could maneouvre the US of A to do another war, sure, but Israel will not fight alone.Every war Israel has fought has been alone. They have fought Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Iraq. They beat them all, too. Did not need our permission or support. They plan it well and execute the plan to perfection. We can learn from them. You better read up on your history (Just a suggestion)

I won’t believe it until it is confirmed by Debka.

And thanks NYT for disclosing this.... Unnamed officals.... appeared to be.... pure conjecture.
Actually, Israel and the US military have both deliberately leaked things to the media, or done certain things in the public's eye (like flying a bunch of fighters over Greece) in order to deliberately send a message to somebody. I have a feeling this was one of those times.

This is public because Israel wanted it to be. When Israel wants to strike secretly, we find out what the target was weeks later (remember the strike a few weeks ago?)
Israel is firing one more shot across the bow of Iran. When they decide to attack, we will only find out about it after the fact. They know how to run a military operation, and are not sabatoged by their own press.

“Did not need our permission our support.”
So those airplanes, they just lit some incense, said some prayers, and they magically appeared?
American military hardware—and American tax subsidies to help them “buy” it from us.
Yeah, Israel is all types of rugged individualism. /s

Add on Ezekiel 38 and Isaiah 17 and I would not want to be moving against Israel at this point in history.

Your disdain for the “mythology” that most of us here hold as Truth has pushed you toward anti-semitism. I pity you.
