WASHINGTON: Israel carried out a major military exercise earlier this month that American officials say appeared to be a rehearsal for a potential bombing attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.
Several American officials said the Israeli exercise appeared to be an effort to develop the military's capacity to carry out long-range strikes and to demonstrate the seriousness with which Israel views Iran's nuclear program.
More than 100 Israeli F-16 and F-15 fighters participated in the maneuvers, which were carried out over the eastern Mediterranean and over Greece during the first week of June, American officials said.

Kharg..... sounds like an errant missle to me....... LOL
Well, the blowed up Iraq’s stuff and recently blew up Syria’s stuff and will blow up Iran’s stuff as soon as the green light is on.
Being a candle maker in Iran may soon be a very profitable trade. This one masy even be out of Olmerts hands and hopefully out of Condi’s as well. If a real workup andnot posturing the next headkline on this will be Israeli jets returning to base after bombing raid on Iraq’s power and communications grid.
this sounds more like deterrence than anything to me. why announce your intentions.

Join the club. “Kissing Arab a** while waiting for Israel to solve our problems” is NOT a foreign policy!
Claptrap.
Israel cant do anything to stop them. Iran has moved everything deep, deep underground, even out of reach of our bunker busters. Any conventional military strike is a lost cause now.

I’d say Israel’s neighbors to the imediate north was a tad bit nervous over that too. The Greek AF may be old but they’ve got some proven aircraft.
ICBMs and jet bombers are equivalent in some ways, such as what payloads they can deliver. ICBMs are quicker and unlikely to be intercepted if those capacities are needed.

It’s a great story. Look at the evidence. The Israel’s took the path of least resistance to the Syrian facility in the desert. Hugging and using Turkish airspace through a northern sector that had limited and known air defense systems.
They even used the same route on egress and jettisoned their external fuel tanks over the panhandle of Turkey that juts down into Syria. There is no magical switch, but excellent intelligence and route planning. The Syrians took the chance not to protect the facility with traditional air defense systems, thus alerting signals intelligence systems and sat recon. The Syrians took the gamble and lost. It was the likes of Debka that reported total defeating of newly supplied Russian missiles that Syria didn’t even operate.
German Tornadoes and Phantoms used to be based in the US for training purposes. Germany regularly sends aircraft to participate in Red Flag and other exercises. It is completely normal and routine the same as U.S. aircraft deploying to the Germany for exercises.
The only thing on that Tornado that is armament is the 27mm Mauser internal cannons. The pointy store on the outer wing pylon is a chaff and infra-red decoy pod. The inner store is an external fuel tank.
