NBC anchor Brian Williams will be the first to fill in for Tim Russert as the host for "Meet the Press" this Sunday, the network said today.
Russert died suddenly last week of cardiac arrest. After Williams, several different NBC news personalities are expected to rotate as the host of the Sunday morning interview show until a permanent replacement is named - sometime later this year or early next.

Odd choice of terminology. How does one "fill in" for a dead man. Usually one would say he would be the replacement or some such thing.
A number of other fill-ins have been mentioned, including reporters Andrea Mitchell and David Gregory and cable news achors Keith Olberman and Chris Matthews.
Sounds boring. My guess is they will have Obama on as the first guest so it can be a verbal blow job (oops, can I say that?) and get some viewers on board. Williams is a terribly boring interviewer.
Same old hacks. Why not get Imus to do it? Then the whole gang can hang out together.
Bump. LOL
Pathetic back-up here. It is a sad testmony that ‘good men/honest talent’ are in such short supply. Says a great deal about the Media itself.
. . .they had better not let Olbeman close to that set; even if he is now the ‘boss’. . .
Boy, talk about a step towards ratings hell.
I understand Katie Couric may be available.
can’t stand him...he’s his own biggest fan.
.they had better not let Olbeman close to that set; even if he is now the boss.
Amen on that hateful hack. And double-ditto on Chrissie Matthews after his disgraceful NON-tribute to Tim.
Imus is actually agood interviewer. He let’s his guest speak and asks some good questions.
My thoughts exactly. Sounds like they're expecting him to make a full recovery. Like he's not quite dead yet.
LOL. Not happening.
Poor Keith isn’t going to sleep well tonight.
Pathetic are the left-overs. Missed Mattthew’s ‘tribute’; but nothing would surprise me. Wanted to think that in listening to the Russert tributes they might feel at least an inclination to be better ‘men’. But their very ‘who/what’; insures that is no chance for ‘second thoughts’.
why not olberman? let america see what dope he is ... i’m all for exposing the left as far and wide as possible ; if it brings down nbc then all the better
Cannot argue your point!
Whatever. . .NBC is pointed 'south'; and Keith will probably bring them in for a hard landing soon. No matter who shows up to keep Tim's chair warm.
That Olberman was moved to the top of the news heap; confirms the low horizon of this network.
Williams seems to screw up when he goes off script. Did you know our Revolutionary War forefathers were terrorists and our Special Forces are suicide bombers? Other than that he's better than most of the NBC riff-raff.
