Massachusetts High School Faces Pregnancy Boom
Thursday, June 19, 2008
A Massachusetts high school is facing a pregnancy boom with 17 girls entering summer vacation expecting babies in what some have called a pregnancy pact.
Officials at Gloucester High School in Gloucester, Mass., are investigating whether half of the teens made a pact to get pregnant during the school year, Time.com reported.
Officials said that beginning last fall a large group of girls started asking the school clinic for pregnancy tests, the site said.
"Some girls seemed more upset when they weren't pregnant than when they were," principal Joseph Sullivan told Time.com.

Those of us that lived in Peabody would go and stare at the Gloucester people. Small hands, smell like cabbage!
(Just kidding Gloucester people)
The earlier two articles mentioned the “pact” as a fact. They even gave the reason as “having someone to unconditionally love you.”
LOL.
The father, in at least one case, was a homeless 34 year old.
Nah. The whole darn school could be getting pregnant, and those guys would still not be getting any.
After all, we ARE talking about the chess club. LOL.
I thought they were supposed to be taught that in our public education system - don’t tell me they let us down - again. I guess they just need more taxpayer dollars........
(sarcasm)
17 yrs ago I worked at a Public Health Dept. issuing WIC vouchers and doing paper work for the clinic. We had an alraming rate of teen girls getting pregnant, to the point that the middle school RN was bringing girls in on family planning day to get them on the pill. (We'd usually see them in a couple of months for a pregnancy test) One teen told me "my men's need my sex and it's gooooood". Others couldn't abstain long enough for the pill to take effect and many others wanted a bi racial baby cause "they are sooo cute!".
I resigned my job about the time I was enrolling 1-2 13 yr old girls on WIC a week. The 'fruits' of all the pregnancies are now my daughter's peers. So, in some cases, I've watch two generations of teen moms haughtily step onto the public dole.
Parenting begings the day you bring them home from the hospital...no later.
That’s nothin! A few years ago at one of the local schools here in NW Arkansas the entire senior class graduated with a bad case of the big belly.
That is, the girls only! The boys graduated with big smiles on their faces!
I would say the school system which aided and abetted and supplied pregancy tests, sex ed, and an atmosphere that encourages the behavior.
Repeat if necessary.
I love that idiotic line teen mothers always try to justify their irresponsiblity with. They confuse love with need. The first couple years of a babies life, its not all about it giving you love. Its about it needing you to feed it, wash it, and take care of it. translated:
my parents and the state will pay for all this, and they will do the majority of taking care of it as I continue to go out and party and raise my children without a marriage or good father in its life.
And in a few years they will getting f****d and chucked over and over again by guys who don't want anything to do with their bastard children, while they search for a soul mate who loves her child too.
Don't you just love it when the liberal nanny state tries to solve a problem it created?
I wonder why the usual suspects haven’t shown up, telling us this is the result of abstinence education (nonexistent in MA, I’m sure) and demanding “comprehensive sex ed”.
“Clemenza my first thoughts were who is going to pay for this?”
Got a mirror handy?
no child left behind.
or in this case, no child’s child left behind
Time to completely cut ‘em off.
If a girl gets knocked up, make the parents of that girl pay for and support the girl and her bastard child.
Time to make those choosing or allowing the behavior pay personally for the consequences.
Yes, and that doesn’t include making the innocent baby pay, with its life, for your irresponsible behavior.

“As I recall, Tab A goes into Slot B.”
*Sounds like a high school full of slots.*
And at least one tab.
It’s all that abstinance they are taught in school.
Yep, that’s what I heard one ditz say on Fox the other day.
The reason kids are getting pregnant nowadays is because they are being taught abstinance.
