Golden Gate To Be Renamed For Ronald Reagan?

Hey, it could happen. They could call it the RR. Besides, 'Schwarzenegger' is just too long to put on the signs.

Or they could call it the "McCarthy's Friend's Bridge."

Hey,his kid brother Teddy already has a bridge on Cape Cod named after him....

Well,not *officially* named after him.

Next,we'll wait for a bridge to be named after Bobby's very "special" friend,Marilyn Monroe.

Personally speaking, I’m just about sick of the beautification of all things Kennedy.

That entire family has been a plague on America.

Triborough Bridge to be named for 'Bobby' Kennedy, took them 40 years for this posthumous honor? Wait, this isn't an election year, is it?

Yes, I am a card-carrying CYNIC!

It’s been known as the Triborough Bridge since forever, this will just confuse people. Why don’t they just name something new after RFK - like a toxic waste dump.

Liberals would RE-name Golden Gate Bridge after Hugo Chavez or Mahmoud Ahmedjinidad, before they name it after Ronald Reagan.

Why is RFK getting all this love today?

Becasuse Hildabeast fantasized about his assasination?

If they are going to rename the Triborough Bridge after anyone, the two candidates would be Robert Moses or Othmar Ammann, without both of whom it wouldn’t have been completed.

Or better still, they could rename it the “Jane Jacobs Memorial Bridge”, and start Robert Moses spinning in his grave.

And another thing,.......

How about naming some things after artists, muscians, composers or scientists?

And there’s plenty of “ordinary” military men and women who served that could use a street, bridge or airport named after them instead. Much better than all the crooked, corrupt, Marxist S-bag politicians.

Commies love to rename stuff. The Soviets & Chicoms used to do it all the time - Leningrad, Stalingrad, People's Park, Revolution Blvd.

Here they use different names - MLK Plaza, Cesar Chavez St, JFK elementary School - but the idea is the same.

I'd like to see a ban on naming any large public project that has to be paid for by all taxpayers after any partisan political figure. But if they have to do it, at least do it to something new. Don't take away a perfectly good name everyone has used for decades just because you like abusing government power to force everyone else to genuflect to your own personal idols.

We have the same problem here in Dallas, where the perfectly good and appropriate name "Industrial Boulevard," which is a major part of the history of Dallas, has to be renamed to make it all glittery and sparkly to go with the nearby lake/park/noisy tollway/flood-waiting-to-happen boondoggle that was most recently shoved down the taxpayers' throats. So now, we've got a bunch of people wanting to name it after either liberal idiot Eddie Bernice Johnson or Hispanic union organizer Cesar Chavez. At least Johnson is from Dallas; what possible connection we have with the godfather of lettuce boycotts is beyond me. All I know is that if I had a business on Industrial Blvd and I was about to have to change my address to Cesar Chavez Blvd, I'd start moving now before my customer base starting drying up. I'm sure the people who go to antique stores on Industrial would be really jazzed to visit a store they'd never seen before if it had that address.

Governor David Paterson is set to sign a measure to rename the Triborough Bridge after New York Senator "Bobby" Kennedy.

Don't understand why any conservative would continue to live in that cesspool.

What's the toll on the CCCP/RFK, about $15.00?

Wouldn’t a bridge in Massachusetts be more appropriate? Bobby Kennedy wasn’t from New York.

This can only mean one thing. New York liberals still aren’t comfortable naming a bridge after Stalin.

Idiots

The Triborough Bridge is nowhere near JFK airport. It is WAY on the other side of the city. It is one of the ways travelers can get to LaGaurdia Airport, but unless you were coming from Connecticut or the Bronx, getting to JFK via the Triborough Bridge would take you 15 miles out of your way!

Idiots

As much as I loved Ronnie...the bridge should now and forever remain the Golden Gate Bridge. I think Ronnie would agree with it as well.

Of course, all New Yorkers will continue to call it “The Triborough,” just as the Jackie Robinson Parkway remains the Interboro and the Joe DiMaggio Highway is still the West Side Highway. Locals will continue to call the bridge from Rockaway to Brooklyn the Marine Park Bridge rather than the Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge and continue to call Route 878, which separates Rockaway from Nassau County, “the new road.”
