MILITARY: Judge dismisses charges against Marine (Haditha)

CAMP PENDLETON ---- A military judge has dismissed charges against a Marine officer accused of failing to investigate the killings of 24 Iraqis.

Col. Steven Folsom dismissed charges Tuesday against Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani after defense attorneys raised concerns that a four-star general overseeing the prosecution was improperly influenced by an investigator probing the November 2005 shootings by a Marine squad in Haditha.

The charges were dismissed without prejudice, meaning they can be refiled, but Folsom excluded Marine Forces Central Command from future involvement.

Chessani was the highest-ranking officer implicated in the case.

A serious jornalistic investigation was not possible in Haditha in 2005-2006, but now it is. Some ambitious reporter with a broader view of things might make some interesting discoveries

Although this might sound good to clear their names once and for all..

I am seriously afraid of what other "interesting discoveries" might be made. The media does not have a very good track record of giving our men and women in uniform the benefit of the doubt. (Just my two cents)

Fruit cake....I think I’m the only one in my family that likes it. It think it’s Abbey of Gethsemene near Bardstown KY that makes the world’s best fruitcake (maybe they’re the rum cake people.) In any case, you can go on a religious retreat and eat heavenly treats.

I think I’ll start a new religion based on dessert. Bighead Fred will be my first convert.
