A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 29% of voters favor nationalizing the oil industry. Just 47% are opposed and 24% are not sure.
The survey found that a plurality of Democrats (37%) believe the oil industry should be nationalized. Just 32% of voters in Barack Obamas party disagree with that approach. Republicans oppose nationalizing the oil industry by a 66% to 16% margin. Unaffiliated voters are opposed by a 47% to 33% margin.
Nationalization is the process by which the government assumes complete control of a private industry and its assets. It has been a common practice in totalitarian dictatorships, but as recently as 2001 following the 9/11 attacks, the U.S. government nationalized the private airport security industry and moved it under the Transportation Security Administration.

I don't think a Conservative revolt can succeed. It could be worth a try, but I think there is a great danger that it could splinter the Republican Party and usher in a Leftist Radical (i.e. Democrat = Communist) takeover of the United States.
Remember the Radicals of the '60s--the Weather Underground etc.?
I think our wisest option is to support McCain, do everything we can to choose a conservative Vice President for him (he could be a one-term President), and work like crazy to elect as many Republicans as possible to Congress.
We should also do everything possible to discourage support of Bob Barr or any other third party candidate who might drain votes from the Republicans.
If the Radical Leftists (Democrats) take over the government in sufficient numbers, the U.S.A. will not recover.
I agree with almost everything you said, except for the solution.
Electing McCain to the WH and hoping that 4 years later we can elect a “better” candidate is silly. What better candidate? Who?? Its going to be more of the same. Is the voting public going to be more educated by then? Or will they have just gone deeper down the hole? The Marxists in the media and elsewhere are just going to get more outspoken and “in your face” with their propaganda.
Honestly, I don’t think you can elect anyone that is going to turn this disaster around. That game is over. There really are limited choices left to those who want to hold on to their freedom. Unfortunately those options require great men to take great risk and sacrifice. Sadly, I haven’t seen a hint of that kind of greatness from anyone.
The oil industry is already nationalized.
The shadow government elites control it lock stock and . . . uhhh . . . barrel.
They tax us at the pumps enormously by artificially high prices . The IMF and world bank use the proceeds to help pave the way to destruction of freedoms and National Sovereignty.
Formal nationalization would be right down their preferences and ease their evil treasons even more.

GOD HAVE MERCY ON US. WALK CLOSE TO GOD. GOD ALONE IS OUR REFUGE . . . . IF you haven’t, please watch the wise Chaplain who lived what he’s talking about. My own North Slope friends and local oil field friends have confirmed it:

Your probably correct in your comments, but there again, what does that get us other than a slower descent into collectivism and a bit more time ?
At some point the scenario you originally posted about is going to happen. I would recommend taking steps NOW to actually avoid that from happening instead of just stalling.
30-40 years ago they used to say it couldn’t happen here. Fascism, that is. It has a shot now.
It buys us time to reorganize and start working on 2012 NOW. The time to win the candidacy for 2012 started in April 2008 - when McCain sewed up the 2008 nomination. Waiting until 2011 will be too late.
At some point the scenario you originally posted about is going to happen. I would recommend taking steps NOW to actually avoid that from happening instead of just stalling.
What are the steps to take now? And no, letting Obama win isn't an acceptable step. The Congress will stay in Donk control; the CHANGE that Obama promises will happen with at least healthcare.
So what steps can we take NOW to avoid de-facto nationalization of 36% of our economy, and potentially 51%?
I don't mean to single you out at all! Nor sound like I'm attacking you. Rather, I'm hoping some of the spoiled little brats at FR will shake out of their funk and look at the bigger picture.
Yes, we didn't get a conservative this time; so we'll work for next time. But giving the entire thing to the Donks is not the answer! What did the NY Giants do after "losing" the first quarter of a football game, give the ball to the other team and walk off the field? NO! You play defense.
McCain is a great defensive play. He's conservative on some issues, and has shown he can be swung to the conservative side on other issues.
The option - let Obama run rampant with the COMMUNIST agenda, for that is what it is - will guarantee a destruction of the Republic in 4 years.
The only reason it didn't happen under Clinton is that the Donks didn't see the wave of 1994 happening. They were too lackadaisical in the first 2 years, and got stalled. They won't make the same mistake again.
The first two years of an Obama presidency WILL see two SC judges seated, nationalization of healthcare, and a run at nationalizing the energy companies. Guaranteed. They will not take their time on the off-chance there is another sea-change in 2010.
As Sir Winston Churchill said: Never Give Up. Never Give Up. Never Give Up.
Unfortunately, it looks as if the U.S.S.R. may be coming to the U.S.A.
Pray for our nation...
It’s a done deal.
They feel there is no stopping them . . . so much so that they have been increasingly brazen about admitting what they’ve done and what they are about to do.
incidentally . . .
I’ve now moved the rumors of the death camps and rail road cars with shackles in them to . . .
a category of
highly probable to certainly true.
Meanwhile, there is a history that Chicom’s CNOOC attempted to purchase UNOCAL, which may indicate the beginning of China’s attempt to hijack America’s interests and blackmail US with its hijacked assets. If nationalization is not an option, what should be done with that?
it looks as if the U.S.S.R. may be coming to the U.S.A.

Correction;
The USSR HAS COME and will be coming MORE AND MORE LITERALLY to the USA.
There will be uniformed Russian, Chinese, Cuban, Mexican troops herding patriots into camps before this is over.
In 1964, Conservatives secured the nomination of Barry Goldwater from the liberal establishment - he lost, of course, but helped launch the political career of Ronald Reagan, who became governor of California in 1966. Moderates reasserted themselves in 1968, with the nomination of Richard Nixon.
In 1976, Conservatives put on a show at the RNC, where a sea of cowboy hats cheered on Ronald Reagan in thrilling act of insurgency against President Ford, who won the nomination but lost to Jimmy Carter. Reagan, of course went on to trounce Carter and re-establish conservative ascendancy within the Republican Party.
By 1988, the moderates were back, with George H.W. Bush doing his "kindler, gentler" thing. After Gentle George was shellacked by Billy Bob Clinton, conservatives decided to make a Congressional stand and in 1994, led by Newt Gingrich, moved into control of Congress for the first time in two generations.
14 years later, that's all gone. We have a weak conservative President and a Democrat Congress and a public in a sour mood. We have an older, moderate "maverick" Republican as presumptive nominee against a young, doctrinaire left-wing Democrat. I don't see that as a very promising match-up for the older guy, hence my interest in another little cowboy party at the RNC.
THIS IS THANKS TO PARENTS WHO DO EVERYTHING AND GIVE THEIR CHILDREN EVERYTHING. IT’S ALL ABOUT GIMME GIMME GIMME.
Of course it would be better to nominate a conservative Republican, but, if the choice is between a moderate Pub and a Democrat, I'll take the Pub--and especially if the Democrat is an anti-American Radical Communist such as we have looming on the horizon.
I’m increasingly convinced
it is the fault of The Church of Jesus Christ . . . failing to put Him first . . . in thought, word and deed.
Everything good flows from that.
Everything bad flows from not doing that.
I think that is to be one of the biggest object lessons of the END TIMES to ALL CREATION.
the anti-McCain people around here had better get their act together.....we don’t love McCain but think of the leftist Muslim loving Bama that the ultra rich want to enshrine into office....
but we would rather be "right" than win elections...
pooh to that...I am sick of it...
in retrospect, it was because our popular conservative pundits did not support Fred or Mitt or Rudy with great enthusiasm like they should have that we got McCain...and now with McCain, they are not supporting him heart and soul, as if our world depended on it, which it does...
Rush and Sean and Glenn make heaps of money.....wonder where it goes...
and since Rushy had supposedly a lot to do in getting the Sheik in there, he better be taking responsibility to defeat him now....
look how 5% unemployment was treated in the Toon years and how its treated now...
